Well, it's almost as if the log is saying that the game can't find the files.

Do you have admin rights to the folder it is installed on? I know that this is present on some computers that without access to a particular folder, that you can't use anything that's within said folder.

If I get it correctly, this should be the last 20 lines of your advanced log:

This is how it should have continued:
21:08:40.580 [system.io] [trace] pack open,packs/data_0.pack,data/graphics/graphics_config.xml,29695 21:08:40.580 [system.io] [info] open: found data/graphics/graphics_config.xml (from: packs/data_0.pack) 21:08:40.639 [system.io] [trace] pack close,,data/graphics/graphics_config.xml,,,-29695 21:08:46.581 [system.io] [info] exists: missing mods/Bare_Geomod/data/shaders/new/fleximesh0_duptex1.vsh 21:08:46.582 [system.io] [trace] file open,,data/shaders/new/fleximesh0_duptex1.vsh,,not found 21:08:46.582 [system.io] [trace] pack open,packs/localized.pack,data/shaders/new/fleximesh0_duptex1.vsh,,not found 21:08:46.582 [system.io] [trace] pack open,packs/data_2.pack,data/shaders/new/fleximesh0_duptex1.vsh,1135 21:08:46.582 [system.io] [info] open: found data/shaders/new/fleximesh0_duptex1.vsh (from: packs/data_2.pack) 21:08:46.643 [system.io] [trace] pack close,,data/shaders/new/fleximesh0_duptex1.vsh,,,-1135
Looks like the game cannot access data_2.pack - I remember having had a talk about bugged original files and fixing it in my cache thread. Lemme check.

From here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/4700/discussions/0/142260895146690837/

Medieval 2 has some permissions issues, but the biggest issue is if you mod a file outside of a mod folder, where the "BLANK" does it get put that you cannot get rid of it unless you have the original to put back into place even if you fully delete and download all over again. There IS the possibility it is in Windows Restore and it could be I blame Steam wrongly, but it only began the day they modified to remove Gamespy and allow Steam multiplayer.

Theoretically you should be able to circumvent this issue by unpacking the game - if one of the pack files is corrupted that will however not fully execute. To be able to catch error messages from th eunpacker you will need to edi tthe relevant BAT file:
Go to the M2TW main folder and browse to the tools\unpacker directory
Now open the unpack_all.bat file by selecting and right clicking it and choosing 'edit'
It should look like this:
unpacker.exe --source=..\..\packs\*.pack --destination=..\..\ --verbosity=1
Simple add a line to it and enter 'pause' then save it. It should now look liek this:
unpacker.exe --source=..\..\packs\*.pack --destination=..\..\ --verbosity=1 pause
Now run\double click the bat file, it will ask you three times if you really want to unpack (simply enter Y and press return each time) . Once it starts unpacking do not close the small window unitl it stops with a success or error message. Write dwon the error message if you get one. It will take a few minutes to completely unpack.
If it finished with a success message then try running Bare Geomod again

The unpacking did work correctly, however I launched Bare Geomod and it crashed again.

Exactly at the same spot...
I am afraid I am running out of ideas - have you tried running it with admin rights? Simply right click the desktop shortcut and choose 'run as admin'
And check if it might be virtual store related: run this tutorialfrom step 3 and delete the medieval ii total war folder in the virtual store directory ifit is present: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=397636

I finally gave up in this matter. I see formatting my OS as a solution, but I can´t afford to do that just for a single game, not for now at least.

I will try to find a solution myself in TWC and over the internet but as I said, I´ve tried everything right now.

In any case, thank you so much Gigantus and the others, for your patience and help. It´s very appreciated :)

I hope I can find a solution, because I really want to play Med II again.
Have you poked around with any files at all?

I do know that there is an odd obscure glitch which means Steam doesn't actually redownload the game properly - you have to uninstall it and wait thirty days before reinstalling it.

... although IIRC this only affects the expansions...

Normally this doesn't bear mentioning, but you're at wit's end...
I fixed my game by going to my amd radeon software click settings click the display tab disable Virtual Super Resolution and i also disabled gpu scaling and the game worked fine. It had nothing to do with compatibility or admin rights hope it helps any one stuck like i was for a while.
Gigantus Mar 8, 2021 @ 9:56pm
GPU scaling is a setting in compatibility.

And yes, super duper fancy resolutions do not work with this grand daddy of a game.
