Do you have admin rights to the folder it is installed on? I know that this is present on some computers that without access to a particular folder, that you can't use anything that's within said folder.
Theoretically you should be able to circumvent this issue by unpacking the game - if one of the pack files is corrupted that will however not fully execute. To be able to catch error messages from th eunpacker you will need to edi tthe relevant BAT file:
Go to the M2TW main folder and browse to the tools\unpacker directory
Now open the unpack_all.bat file by selecting and right clicking it and choosing 'edit'
It should look like this:
If it finished with a success message then try running Bare Geomod again
I am afraid I am running out of ideas - have you tried running it with admin rights? Simply right click the desktop shortcut and choose 'run as admin'
And check if it might be virtual store related: run this tutorialfrom step 3 and delete the medieval ii total war folder in the virtual store directory ifit is present: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=397636
I will try to find a solution myself in TWC and over the internet but as I said, I´ve tried everything right now.
In any case, thank you so much Gigantus and the others, for your patience and help. It´s very appreciated :)
I hope I can find a solution, because I really want to play Med II again.
I do know that there is an odd obscure glitch which means Steam doesn't actually redownload the game properly - you have to uninstall it and wait thirty days before reinstalling it.
... although IIRC this only affects the expansions...
Normally this doesn't bear mentioning, but you're at wit's end...
And yes, super duper fancy resolutions do not work with this grand daddy of a game.
