Third Age Divide and Conquer Installation Problems
I have the LOTR mod Third Age 3.2 installed and it works fine.

The problem I have is in making the submod Divide and Conquer work.

I have installed all the neccessary parts off of moddb.com and have followed instructions outlined here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=517318177

I have installed all the parts into the Third_Age_3 folder where the main mod is located, but when I start up the game it is just the normal Third Age mod- no change at all!

I have tried installing it into the default path (SteamApps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3\data), to no avail upon which I have tried downloading into a less specific path (SteamApps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3), which also had no effect

I would be grateful if someone could help me out and solve this predicament

You don't direct DaC to the data folder. You direct it to the TATW folder and it'll place itself into the data folder.

Best remove all of TATW and reinstall.

Grab your mods folder.

You should have five folders in there:
-> americas
-> brittania
-> crusades
-> teutonic
-> Third_Age_3

Grab your Third_Age_3 folder.
You should have a bunch of folders in there that shouldn't matter.

Grab your data folder out of your Third_Age_3 folder.
You should have a whole bunch of folders named stuff like
-> models
-> banners
-> BETTER_WATER
... and stuff like that.

Question: In your data folder, is there another data folder? If there is, copy all the contents of that sub-data folder into the main-data folder and tell Windows to replace any files it finds.

What version of DaC are you trying to install? 1.2, I presume?

yes, the latest -1.2. There are three parts to the main mod plus the patch download

The problem is, there is no secondary data folder within the main data folder- for some reason nothing is getting overwritten

I am not getting any prompts to overwrite anything like it says that I should

Follow this closely and it will work. Make sure your Third Age mod is working as well. Otherwise do a fresh install of Third Age. Install Third age onto Medieval 2 folder (Not mods folder it will automatically install into mods) Then DAC simply onto your fresh new Third Age folder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YJbsuTzmEc

The moment you install DaC, so you have a fresh 3.2 TATW install, the first thing the installer will ask you, after you've set the correct install path, is that it can't do anything with a file. It'll ask you to 1) Ignore 2) Retry 3) Abort. If it doesn't do that, you've got a WRONG installer!

You have to click Retry between 15-20 times before the install starts + with the above video, created by the DaC modder, you should be allright.

WIth the latest 1.2 patch however, you need to direct the install a bit different. You direct the versions 1 (part 1,2,3), 1.01, 1.1 to your Third_Age_3 folder. This means that the install directory (CHECK THIS!!!) Ends with /Third_Age_3/data. The 1.2 patch however, has to be directed to; /Steam/steamapps/common/Medieval 2/mods !!!!!!! And the last part, MODS is important.

Because you direct it to /medieval2/mods the install directory changes to /Medieval2/mods/Third_Age_3 as specified in the install instructions.

nice one modders, creating installers that have to be directed to different spots :P

It's good to know that DaC 1.x no longer needs DaC 0.5 to run though - previously v1.01 already required not a TATW 3.2 but a DaC 0.5.2 installaton. Good to know that's fixed.

What the gents have said is true. If you more very detailed and surefire instructions, the best place to read about it is in the TWC fora. There you will find all the answers to your questions.
