are you trying to do it on an expansion or on vanilla?
Wallsh Jun 30, 2017 @ 9:25am
I own kingdoms dlc but idk how to launch it in kingdoms..it shows that I own it and that it's installed

Have you enabled hotseat in the medieval2.preference?
Wallsh Jun 30, 2017 @ 9:51am
um I have not not sure how

If you're not sure how, then how do you know you have?
Wallsh Jun 30, 2017 @ 9:59am

Prepare mtw2 vanilla for hotseat:
(this was originally written by Flimmeister)

two things have to be done.

First you have to copy your medieval2.preference.cfg file and past it in the same directory. Give it the name "multiplayer". Without the "". You can find the file in your main mtw2 directory, by default: C://Program Files/SEGA/Medieval total war 2.

Open the new copied multiplayer.cfg file. Find the lines:

[hotseat]
autoresolve_battles = 1
disable_console = 1
disable_papal_elections = 1
save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 0
validate_diplomacy = 1

Then REPLACE it by these lines:

[hotseat]
turns = 0
scroll = 0
autoresolve_battles = 0
disable_console = 0
disable_papal_elections = 0
save_prefs = 1
update_ai_camera = 0
validate_diplomacy = 1

[multiplayer]
playable = 1

Now open up Notepad. In an otherwise blank do***ent, type this:

medieval2.exe @multiplayer.cfg

Save the Notepad do***ent as Launch_Multiplayer.bat
Put this new Launch_Multiplayer.bat file in your C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War folder.
Now, if you want to, right click on the new .bat file and send it to the desktop (Create Shortcut).
When you want to play the multiplayer version of the game, double-click the .bat file. This will launch the game in multiplayer mode.

I did this, I can launch the game using the bat but there is still no hotseat option anywhere
Wallsh Jun 30, 2017 @ 11:05am
also isnt it suppose to just automatically have this in the kingdoms dlc?
Vanilla has no hoteseat functionality unless you do a lot of fiddling.

Are you launching vanilla (the original Medieval II) or are you launching an expansion?

You'll have to launch an expansion to get the hotseat function.

so you can only hotseat on those boring campaigns like Americas etc

Yep!

Except you can also hotseat on any mod.

And the Retrofit Mod[www.twcenter.net] is the Grand Campaign (the original M2) running on the Kingdoms engine = Hotseat functionality!
