We do not get to change Steam versions. What Steam gives us is what Steam gives is.
Uh, is 1.04 maybe the mod version?

It's not usually possible to de-patch any game, let alone the forgotten-by-CA M2...

You will see which M2TW version you have by gong into your option screen - it's at the top right corner.

The 1.04 M2TW version is the plain Kingdoms installation without the 1.05 final patch. Why anyone would make a kingdoms mod without the final patch is beyond me.

And do you launch the mod in the same way as the other people? As far as I know, multiplayer with mods require you to
A) install it the same way
b) launch it the same way
c) If none of this happens then none of it will happen

thats the thing i reinstalled the game and it's still on 1.54, but all the guys running the mod have it on 1.04 ( not the Mod just the base game ) my mod and their mods are the same and installed the same way .... and more or less i found out online that a lot of people have the incomp glitch where every game ( despite the files being the same and installed in the same way ) they cant play becuase the base game (MTW2 is a different verison to every one elses)

Hints why i'd like to de- ptatch the game to a older verison but it doesnt seem possible or atleast on steam :(

Not the game....the mod....

There are multiple ways of launching a mod. If you use a different method then you won't find people unless they use the same method.

Can you give me aa link to the forum where the mod is downloaded from? There must be a reason why they are not upgrading their kingdoms installation.

TA Reforged require Third Age Total War 3.2 to be installed.

A sub mod for TATW (which I cannot find on TWC - somewhere else?) no real reason why the M2TW 1.04 version should be used.

Found this community: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TA-reforged

And the latest patch\version got released barely a week ago: http://www.moddb.com/mods/third-age-reforged

As far as I know they dont have a TWcenter page.

Other then the single comment about players with 1.04 I don't see anything that shows any reason. I guess it's just a fluke that a good number of kingdom disk owners (that haven't patched to 1.05) got together.

Really, and yet a search finds you nothing.

no of the guys in the lobby have said they have disk verisons though, all of them have steam

Guys I am really p1ssed! I use version 1.52 as well. I have reinstalled everything and followed 2 guides by the letter. Still every game for TA Reforged is incompatible.

Both Third Age version 3.2 and TA Reforged patch 0.86 have been tested by me in singleplayer and work fine.

These are the guides I have used:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/4700/discussions/0/613937306844937464/
http://www.moddb.com/mods/third-age-reforged/downloads/third-age-reforged-06

What I have done so far:
1) I verified the integrity of the Medieval 2 game files
2) I have reinstalled Third Age (First and second part of version 3.0 and the patch 3.2) to the following location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War
3) I have renamed the TA folder to "Third_Age_Reforged"
4) I have extracted Reforged version 0.6 and all the patches up to patch 0.86 to the following location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods
(YES, it did ask me if I want to overwrite, I clicked 'Yes to all' )
5) I have changed the launch options for Medieval 2 in steam and TA Reforged works FINE !!! in Singleplayer.
