There is little you can do beyond just kill as many Mongols as you can, until they have settled down. After that, they aren't gonna be as fully stacked together.
When they siege your cities, just fight in the Main Square. Leave like 2 units at the gates, as that gives you an excellent chance to kill their General. After that, not much else to do other than just go with the flow of the battle.
If you can, get them to besiege your fortress's and citadels. As they fight to break through the multiple layers of walls, keep crossbowmen on the walls, to continually pelt them! They will lose alot of men and will either break and run for it, or else run out of troops. Be sure to keep your main melee troops, in the main plaza. If they get there and start fighting they'll still be weak.
Its been a while since I fought against the Timurids, but from what I remember, its their elephants that are the problem. Just rain fire arrows down on them continually, and the elephants will, at long last, get spooked. Once the elephants are gone, there is a good chance they will trample their allies under foot...and once they are far away/off the battlefield, sally forth! The Timurids seem only able to recruit artillery and militia levelled troops...no real heavy infantry that Ive seen, unless their Halberdier troops are considered heavy.
Also, whilst running Retrofit, you get Boiling Oil = even more of a reason to hold the gates.
If you're in a Castle (or better) the plaza actually has a tower or two at the back of it. Move some units down to the very back to get constant arrow fire.
I've gotten rid of the Mongols by playing defensively and then attacking their last army with a full stack; but Mongols are ten times easier to beat in sieges as there their Horse Archers suck.
I wiped out the Mongols one time in a campaign.....only to have them return. Not in the same, apocolyptic manner as the first time. Is there some trick to wiping them out altogether?
Turks have a green flag, Mongols and Timurids don't.
but yea their like 9 armies spawned right next to that castle in the far NorthEast of the map and are constantly besieging it, each battle takes the full time to play. Mostly because for some reason the AI keeps shooting canons at invincible parts of the wall then just stand there and die to the towers until time runs out.
At least in this game you can build/resupply troops in 1 turn so they can't whittle me down too much lol
Also I don't think I should do x6 because for some reason even though my PC is pretty powerful (way more than this game needs) when I go to x6 the game goes to like 4-8fps making it actually slower than x2.....so each round would still be 30min lol
