Online with local party?
Just got the game, and played a bit with friends locally.

We were a bit disappointed that the five of us couldn't jump online and fill out the other slots, though.

Will local parties be able to play with randoms online in the future?

You already can. Select online, then the option to host. Other local players might join holding up keys.

This confused us as well, just trying to play at the same time as my wife. Steam link and 2 steam controllers. Obviously local play wont work, the game does a good job explaining that.

Unfortunately it doesnt make sense why 2 peens wouldn't be able to enter the local lobby for online multipeen. I will try that local host thing tho.

1. At the main menu, select Online Multipeen, hold S, Down key, K, or Numpad 5, or hold down on any analog sticks on connected joysticks to select it and continue.

2. On the next screen, one player will show up. He has to control the character, and enter gently inside the open cabins.

3. A menu will appear. Select Host option (down, again), and then Traditional (Party mode is still not available for online play) hold down again.

4. Select the maximum number of players and start the match, hold down.

5. After doing that, any other players can hold their up keys (W, I, Up arrow, Numpad 8, Up on analog sticks) to join. In theory, it supports up to 4 players on keyboard (WASD, IJKL, Arrow keys and Numpad keys), and 2 players on each additional joystick (left and right analog sticks).

If you don't have 4 local players, you'll have to wait for at least a total of 4 players to be present to start a match. That's it. Just managed to test it here, worked fine.

Yes, it's not clear. Nothing is clear about the game... not the menu selection, nor the scoring, nor how to mix local and online play.

Finally got around to trying this, not accepting inputs from the second controller except pause

Same problem here. I'm hosting a game but my friend over on the other sofa is unable to join. Playing on the Steam Link with 2 Xbox 360 controllers plugged in.

We're going to have to look into this. We haven't tried using Steam link ourselves (but the game definitely should work with a lot of controller types).
