Hi official! I did get it to work, but i understand why it isnt fully supported. PLEASE keep this app going, I'd love to see the company that my goal in life to work for goes deep into VR!!!
Same for Facebook and Rift :P.
On a serious side, Touch release soon but the tracking won't be as accurate as VIVE.
But in this "game", it's not really an issue as you don't have much to aim with controller.
How do you know how the touch will be like conpared to the vive?
The tracking is all limited by the cam resolution, As soon a LED isn't within the acceptable resolution to have a proper 1:1 tracking, tracking will lose a LOT of precision.
Touch controller will do the same, except it will actually gonna make even more data on the USB bandwidth.
The room-scale precision of a VIVE is perfect 1:1 within the recommended space, which is massive, add to that more light house THE NUMBER you want and you can literally get infinite space, for the Rift, you are limited to the bandwidth and all the factor previously told.
Wire on the Oculus is also much more limited, the accuracy using an extension can be partially affected, EVEN if it's numeric. Can't say if the wire length was personal decision or technical decision for the Rift tho.
The tracking technology is a primitive idea that work great on paper but lose it's sense in case of upgrade to roomscale but even on a room scale experience, since the creator NEVER thinked about two seconds of the future of the HMD, he never did the switch between emitters and receiver, BUT even if he wouuld have done the HMD as receiver, the technology for tracking he used wouldn't work properly in this case.
The Rift was a primitive idea that was rushed for release while people behind VIVE took the time, add to that the experience and budget behind this and you got great results. Rift had budget when Oculus was acquired by Facebook but FB prefered to rush the release than having the tech redone a bit in fear to lose sales, but in the end, their rushing idea made the whole thing crashing.
Plus with the price of the Touch controllers, tons I know who wanted to get the controller for an overall cheaper VR experience ended craiglisting their Rift to switch to the VIVE for the same amount or so.
