- the smaller/bigger hook hint is sometimes endless switching between bigger/smaller hook
- encyclopedia for Florida species is not helpfull and almost useless
- there's only a little amount of fish (devs say hundreds - where?), but red drums are everywhere
- this is the first location, where you can spawn on the map and hunter vision shows empty waters (repeatedly, different places)
- really hard to catch any fish (I am playing at Normal) - except red drums
- impossible to catch different (or all of) species
- black screen on successful catch (marlin), F5 report couldn't be sent
- when switching between rods on the boat, wrong float is shown in close-up view (one of the floats used). I experienced once that float changed itself on current set, although in the set settings it was still correct
What's the normal behaviour when entering the wheel for everyone else? tbh I began to think I'd become hyper-sensitised after the black screen occured. I kept playing having posted this and it wasn't annoying me as much as it should have.
I caught another marlin - same black screen and no achievement for the marlin as yet.
Concerning the hook hint.
This isn't new behaviour . I saw it on Lake Taupo a couple of times - although it is more noticeable on this map.
Anyway, as well as fish swimming into the hooks area of effect. It should be noted that they can also swim out of it.
That said, it does seem to be weaker on this map - as if the hook isn't transmitting or the fish aren't receiving as well as they ought to.
I've been lording it over Lake Taupo for the past few months. *blush* And every single fish I've caught on there has been due to the behaviour of the hint - this month I switched to a #6/0 hook only. I figured, a player can beat me on the leader board if they wish, but they're not doing it by catching less fish - unless they use the same hook and pull in a better average size.
It also works without a boat, (tested on betty lake). But basically, you set your rods with a large hook and drive around until the hint disappears, then you stop and wait for a bite - which is almost certainly guaranteed - the good thing about Lake Taupo is that Chinooks are nearly everywhere and there's a good chance of large ones spawning.
So it works very well on there but as I mentioned it seems weaker on here - the fish don't seem as interested.
One thing that works better on this map is travelling quickly in the boat, which needs to be done with care on Lake Taupo - I assume, due to the amount of fish and any under the hood calculations the game is doing. (On Taupo, the game will freak out if you go too fast for too long).
Bugs aside. I'm sorry to day that, overall Taupo can be likened to Skyrim and unfortunately this map is more like Starfield in comparison - mind you, I probably have a bias as I think Taupo is hugely underrated and possibly the best map in the game.
Seeing as I'm being so free with my opinion - I do like the coral textures.
One last note for the dev. At the bottom of the leader board page. It say some thing to the effect of - The leaderboards will be resetted at the beginning of each month. While you're tweaking - would it be possible to change it so that it say's reset rather than resetted? As that is correct in English.
Good catch! I wondered where you were going with that and looked at the achievements for this map lol.
All the Florida DLC is pure lottery to guess correct numbers.
You mean you can't find on fish list on Florida or on the lure/bait list?

With these large open maps is there any plans to add new smaller hooks that can hold more bait? It seems that #12, #8 and #6 don't have a 2 or 3 bait option, only a 1 bait option. With these large open water maps, I think being able to have more attraction on the smaller hooks would help some of us strugglers.
Are these sharing the same trophy spot as the Blacktip Reef Shark by mistake?
(As a side note, will we be getting a trophy room for Taupo Lake in a future update?)
