Taupo Lake: Bullhead, Rudd, Giant Kokopu
Anyone have any tips for finding these fish? I fished around for a few hours and have yet to see one. Lots of Salmon and Trout though lol :)

I've used earthworms and hook size #12 to catch the Giant Kokopu. Same with Flathead Grey Mullet and Chinook Salmon. Still trying to catch the others.

Edit: Pretty much caught Kokopu with every bait. Calling it for the night. Hopefully, someone will post information about Rudd, Bullhead, and the eel, since I'm having no luck with those.

Eel, Salmon, All the Trout, and Mullet I got with a small hook like size 8, small cutbait or red worm caught them all. Eels where everywhere. Can't find Kokopu, Rudds, or Bullhead Catfish anywhere.

Just got Kokopu on #12 with maggot. Only Rudd and BUllhead to go
Edit: Not sure the location #, but it was literally where I spawned into the game next-ish to the motorboat.

I caught my Rudd near #5, out on open water. Size 12 hook, Semolina ball. On the same hook you can get the bullhead catfish in the same spot. (edit: in the shallow portion of open water, not deep portion)

My Giant Kokopu I got in the smaller of the two streams that head to the the open water (the one that #5 is near). About half way down that river there are both small eels and small kokopu. I used a size 8 hook there, same bait

Finally got the Rudd and Catfish, #12 hook/Semolina ball like you said. I had no luck at #5 so I went to #7, and started walking towards #5, casting out into the open water as I went. Eventually got both...best thing is Salmon and Trout there seem to ignore the Semolina Ball so no unwanted catch. Thanks AllyKat!

I got the Giant Kokopu with size #12 and dough balls in a few different places.

I finally caught Brown Bullheads and Rudds left or west of Spot #7 in the shallow area where it looks like no fish would ever be. Same as the others, I used #12 hook and Semolina ball as bait.

Thank you all for posting your tips and experience. They definitely helped. Now, all that's left is the eel.

Edit: At last, I caught eels with #12 with red worms at Spot #3 north on the big rock.

When you guys catch these specie what depth are you?

I used the longest line with a weight and bobber. In some cases, the bait hit the ground. This was true regardless when fishing in the shallows for Rudd and Catfish.

I don't use much lead, only 0.5m - 0.7m depth.

I did minimum length under the float due to the shallow stream giving me issues with hitting obstacles when reeling in (due to a shallow spot).
