How to Successfully catch Marlin as early as level 14
Just thought I would post a quick video on how I and a friend of mine have been landing Marlin as early as level 14. Haven't seen any youtube videos on it specifically (Well except for failed attempts) Hope it helps someone out. He was successfully catchin Marlin over 400 lbs.Get out there and catch some 400 lbers! Sry for the vid quality in advance. Not exactly a youtube professional with a dedicated pc. https://youtu.be/nO0GVhyCtew

No problem. Hope it helps a few of you guys out. I know I struggled forever to figure out how to get these guys in at early levels.

I caught a Marlin on level 14, the right Way.....Trolling in a Boat. Admitted it was a small one, just 60 lbs. but if I caught one I'm sure I will catch another! I caught it on a Soft lure. I don't remember witch one but if you look under soft lures for level 13 you will see one that is for mostly Marlin, I think it is only #4/0, but with level 14 gear you don't want to catch THE BIG one..........lol OOPs, I just looked and it was the level 14 Soft lure in blue at #8/0..... Gone Fishing!!!!!!!!

Fish in the boat sounds pretty RIGHT to me bud. Sry was not trying to offend anyone here with lure choice or fishing method. Was only meant to show that the gear itself, not the bait method would easily work. Should have known the "right way" would come in to play... Tell ya what.. I'll throw on a bait and troll one up on lvl 14 gear if needed. BTW if you were suggesting that live bait on Marlin is unethical, you should probably know that trolling with live bait including Bonito, Mullet, and Mackerel are probably the most popular methods for Marlin IRL. (I usually prefer mullet as they are easily available through cast netting.) Trolling or not. If the boat not moving was an issue,,,, I don't know what to say other than WTF? Found Marlin and for the sake of a quick video stayed there to show gear and be on fish rather than search for 4 boring minutes. I do agree if you are saying we don't bobber fish for Marlin, then again, its kinda the only choice we have, You don't exactly see outriggers or even plainer boards in the game available for purchase do you? Anyways, IRL we commonly drift fish with Mullet or Balyhoo when we find Blues. (Drifting means engine not under power.) And congrats on your level 14 Marlin Bykracer. Glad you got it the "right way". Btw.. you more than likely caught it on the squid bait. It's what I would have used and in real life is also a very popular choice.

Sry, Bad choice of words. I just meant that you could also catch Marlin on a lure, not intending it to sound that your way was wrong............I know that live (and Cut) bait are used to troll for Marlin, but I have never heard of using a bobber, but as you say WTF if it works......I just leveled up to 15, so I can no longer fish for Marlin at lvl 14, but I did land a 225 lbs. Blue Marlin, I lost 4 others, one a monster because I ran out of line. Just couldn't turn them with lvl 14 gear. I finely gave up and went back to Betty Lake looking for that 50 lb'er in there...........Good fishing in the future and no hard feelings............didn't mean to offend,,,,,,,,,7:00 in the morning, think I'll quit and get some sleep.

All good man. The game just needs proper drifting mechanics and a way to throw baits without floats aside from using a panit weight. No offense taken.. Have heard it mentioned before that its a mechanic that should not work when in reality and in real life the mechanic of drift fishing is definately a thing. Trust me I've done it quite a bit.
I'd really liked to have seen the saltwater equipment expanded on further or at least the ability to toss live bait that actually swims and can be drug, but guess we will have to see what the second game has in store there. Not sure I have much faith in the second iteration of the game though. We will see I suppose. Happy fishing bud.

I also have had fishing be a big part of my life. From Sturgeon fishing with my Dad at 5,6 at Cascade Locks on the Columbia River in Oregon. Being Blessed to be a part of the Salmon & Steelhead Fishier in the Pacific NW. for 20 years. Even Fishing on a 52 ft. Salmon Troller for a Fall, Winter and Spring. I'm 71 years old and my whole life I'de have given my left N** to fish Alaska, but sadly it never happened. Another Fishier I've always wanted to try was Fly Fishing for Tarpon and Trolling for Marlin, the great Blue. But since I spent my life fishing there was always another lure to buy, or gas money to go fishing.....lol...........All that said, this game needs more realism. You should be able to successfully land a fish 3x the weight of your equipment, and if your good 4x and even 5x. Good example is my 52 lb. Salmon on 12 lb. test line.............not turn a 15 lb. fish on 30 lb. line to have it break your line 10 ft. from landing it. Especially with you rod tip at 12:00 and drag set at 25%. I understand that this is a game......But call it ULTIMATE FISHING SIMULATOR............Gone Fishing!!!

I hear ya bud.. There's a lot that could have been improved here. Still the most fun I've had on a fishing game in a bit though so can't really knock it much. Gone fishing with ya!
