Fights always seem more of a challenge on a fly rod. Generally I start with the smaller hook size flies at a new lake that list the species I am after and then work my way up the bigger hooks size flies that still list the species I am after.
Depends what you enjoy really.
It is possible, at about level 14 to get stuck into Marlin if you want to start catching the big ones.
Slowly work your way through the lakes, or pick a species you want to go after and head to that lake, whatever floats your boat :)
someone told me to use my hunter vision ... but i play on realistic .. i had no clue there was even another option LoL.. generally i stand next to people... lol i figure oneof em must have the vision
i haven't gone after malrins yet.. i don't think i unlocked the big fish maps yet ... ponds and lakes so far. i plan on it though. eventually
thats fantastic
At Saint Zenos Lakes I use feeders to catch massive carp, 40 kg plus. Corn bait on the hook. Herbal - Grain bait in the feeder.
Fly fishing at Atchafalaya Basin have been pretty good for me. Floats too.
Uvac river I haven't messed around with much, but floats and some softbaits with slow reeling have worked for what little time I spent there.
On Betty lake, try some softbait. Stop & go or slow reel lure methods. I use the Kubot #6/0 or #7/0 and get 20kg+ rainbow trout. My record is 22.8kg.
But overall, using the Hunter Vision and underwater camera which aren't available in Realistic mode are a huge help starting off. Once you get some tricks down, you can always switch back.
