fishing methods using a lure
ok so im ok at using bait. i can catch all the fish i want. but i decided to try a lure just for the hell of it and more often than not i get "no luring method". and i remember there were certain methods. besides straight and slow straight, im not sure how to do the others. ive tried bobbing it up and down slowly, rapidly, stopping and going slow and fast, but it never shows up on the bottom right hand screen. what is the secret? im at my wits end and i fish in real life so i dont know whats up. =/

Buy the sakura queen rana soft bait lure to use for practice, it never sinks and sits on the surface of the water. Just cast out and let it chill there, and then I want you to right click every 2 seconds with good rhythm. That was twitching. now start reeling in while doing that same exact right click every 2 seconds. Thats lift and drop. Last one you need a lure that can sink, let it hit bottom after casting very far. Start reeling in at level 2 or 3 speed then stop once you see the word bottom go away...when you see it touch bottom again start reeling a lil bit and stop...rinse repeat for stop and go.

thank you that helped a lot!!

Stop and go method:
This method can be really hard, or really easy depending on the lure you use. First thing you have to do, is set your reel speed at high/max. Let the lure hit the bottom, then wheel in fast for 2-3 seconds then let it sink again. Repeat.
My first effort: Used a spinner. Stop and go works, but its hard to keep it constant, as the stop and go attraction keeps falling off. Not easy to use. No fish caught.
Second effort: Used a plug/crankbait, was easy to keep constant drop and go. Easy to use, got lots of fish.

I think its important to try diffrent lures to learn the methods, i think after using a lure thats easy to use makes it easier to try a lure thats harder to use as your skill develop. Thats my opinion anyway.

This has always been a flaw in this game. Luring methods way too difficult to register. I don't even bother with any species that doesn't go for straight as the rest are just too frustrating and annoying.

It seems to me, most fish do go for straight, or slow straight. If you have the right lure with the right hook size. I got alot of pike on cranks, and alot of walleye on a spinner on the latest dlc map. All using straight method. Fish on almost every cast.

Fortunately yes most of them do , but there are exception species that will not go for straight at all sadly.

Well, theres always the floater option. Or maybe fishing with a fly rod? Worth a shot imo.

i really enjoy the luring methods. makes it more immersive. you're right though, the stop and go so far is the hardest. I had it going for about 10 seconds at my best, but with the depth always changing and waiting for it to hit the bottom, it usually goes away. ill try what you said. also, the ones that say "no luring method" does that mean i need cut bait and patience or will any suffice?

If you get "no luring method" while using a lure, like a spinner, cranks etc. that means the fish was not attracted to the lure. Maybe cause the stop and go method dropped out?
However, if you get "no luring method" during float fishing, you can ignore that message.

no i mean when you look in the encyclopedia to see what method the fish are attracted to

ah. if it says on wiki that there is "no luring method", that means the fish is not interested in lures at all. Only option then, is to do fly fishing or float fishing.

I noticed the timing needed differs slightly if you have Vsync/Gsync on or off. I keep it off since this game at 4K I see little to no tearing. Practice more the way I explained in the response post using the Sakura Queen Rana, you'll get it.

Nah tried that many times. The game just keep loosing the method way too easily. It doesn't work right , never have.
