I'm also curious of this feature, and would be personally more inclined to pick this game up:

Is multiplayer an actual 'fish with your friends' mode yet? (Their character, rod, boat and so on with your own) or is it just a lobby system that you play your own game, and talk with other players?

I've been searching on youtube for multiplayer game play but haven't had much luck.

Its just show what your friends and the peeps and same lobby get and how much KG or punds. cant steal each other fishes and stuff. cant compete for the same fish. cant see your friend catching the fish. It only indicates with different colours of the "character"
