According to steam i made that thread back in december 2017 when the leaderboard cheating had started to happen and consequently ruined them. Or, in other words almost a year ago.
I don't remember anything about their even being any competitive modes when the Kick-starter was unveiled. They should just do away with the leader boards until which time they can be cheat proofed.
https://www.easy.ac/en-us/
1. There were a lot of things done to prevent cheating since Early Access launch. And I mean A LOT. Probably about 95% (or more) cheaters are successfully prevented from getting into leaderboards (you can't see this - because it works well). Those who are left are just leftovers and these cases are more sophisticated.
2. The same is with pirated games (it's sth completely different than cheaters) which gave us a really pain in the neck after launch. Not because there are pirated version (no one can prevent that) but because other players started to complain and giving negative reviews.
We spent a lot of time to prevent this as much as possible. This completely destroys our plans/roadmap and it directly impacts my wallet because of the delays. But we did it anyway and almost all pirate players where separated (and we still do that as new cracks - which we can't foresee - are created).
3. Many people play only single player. Most players are not interested in rankings at all. We got dozens of reports/mails about different things everyday. Just a few of them from last months were related to cheaters.
I understand that for some people it might be important but there are thousands of players with other (sometimes much more crucial) problems we must handle.
Despite of that we still make improvements, some of them will be released this or next week.
5. It's not that easy to detect cheats. Sometimes it's obvious but sometimes it's really hard to prove. We already had a situation where player gave us negative review because he was (as it turned out - improperly) removed from rankings.
Ace - what if someone would report you because he would (honestly) think that your score is too high/fake? Or just doesn't like or wants to get at your position in rankings? Should we ban you immediately as you suggested?
Actually, we already got a report from a player complaining that you were undeservedly calling him a cheater on chat.
We already work much more than we are obligated to by contract (honestly - you have no idea). If you think that it's not enough and want to leave the game - I can't do anything more with that.
BTW Creating new thread about the same thing every few days doesn't help - it just creates disorder.
Anyway we are very grateful for everyone for reports (especially when new cracks/pirate groups are discovered) - it's really hard to handle by ourselves and is a great help.
Reset the leaderboards please.. too many cheaters! then i can again enjoy this game.
Ive told a couple I think they're suspicious, I have also not reported them because Normal is so much easier that it's hard to tell. One I did report as suspicious but I made that clear in the report.
The obvious ones are as clear as day like this one and he was actually removed but then done it again the next day so not much to look into on that one!.For any that I do falsely accuse I'm sorry but at the end of the day I/We shouldn't have to.
It needs to be looked into in detail, you dont want false reports being removed then bad reviews because of it but also you dont want players leaving because of them in the mean-time which a friend already has. Id be peeved off yes.
Sorry. I wanted to show how much of an annoyance it really is and get the type of response you have given by doing so. I was fishing with the cheater for a few hours before hand so that didn't help. Thanks for the comment and I do appreciate what your team does and has done.
This is not UBISoft, how many resources to you think they have? As long as this game is single player and not server based, these issues will happen, and the competition does not have to bother. There are plenty of regular people that will try and post cheated up scores or give themselves endless amounts of money, bait, equipment and whatever they want.
Leader boards will always cause this strife unless the fishing and scoring data is based on a server.
