Fishing Games/Simulators - general discussion
As we saw in last days, there were a lot of discussions about other fishing games/pros and cons / etc.

To keep everything clear let do it in one thread. You can talk here about other fishing games, about ultimate fishing, compare all fishing games, etc.

That will help other players to make the best choice and will prevent off-topic.

:)

Thank you , it was very annoying to see all that in the DLC thread. And might I also say it takes a brave dev to even allow a thread like this in their forum. Respect !

ultimate fishing simulator is the best fishing game i have played, end of discussion/thread closed.

You know what makes this the best fishing game? Not the game play or graphics, not the cheap asf dlc. Its the community developers responding to their customers.

I made a feedback post on screenshots of fish and within an hour herbert and raf are all over it, so impressive.

Bring up strong points of other fishing games is in itself a regular thing on on this forum just scroll back and read them all. New dlc release, great developers, no need for it.

.

Please do not go into personal insults. We know that there was a lot of offtopic last days that is why I created this topic.

If someone don't want to read this thread, please unsubscribe it.

Personally my favourite fishing game was the Strike :) I played every kind of fishing games, its hard to create good game without knowing your competition.

And community is really important, because players usually spent more time in such games than we do. They can do more honest comparisions :)

OK i will tell you all why this game totaly beats fishing planet,

Fishing planet is big its bulky and full of content... its all flash.. they produce a mass of content but in the end it improves very little, me and my mum added up the total cost to buy all the dlc content and it can up to a bill of over £600 and people here complain about buying this games, some of the dlcs on FP cost over £20-£30 and what exaclty are you buying.... a costume for your tackle gear or weird clown suits from events that make you look like a carnaval mascot.. all this and no improvments,

and whats worse is the frighting amount of grinding you have to do just to use game currency to pay for lisences and day and travel costs to each zone which then expire soon after, the grind is nightmaresh just to play... they say its to be the best imersive, but the truth is too obvious its to "encorage" players to pay real money for a "speceal" currency that gives you discount access to venues and worse are required in order to purchase the decent tackle in game, forceing more stupid players to constaintly empty their wallets in order to play on equal footing and enjoy the full games content..

and you would think that amount of payed subs and service would give the grandest experience of gameplay.. it doesnt the fishing is ahem.. trash the fights are but seconds before the fish is yanked flying out of the water and hits you in the face.. and what time i did play i had yet to see any decent fish fighting ai at all, also on note you cannot even see the fish in the water, not from the surface nor underneath making me wonder if their models are even there at all.

and the socality of players a met there reflected the rest of the game, they were rude, unhelpful, and kept jumping and standing in front of me to spoil my fishing, and the worst ones were the ones who actaly wore those stupid flash constumes and branded equipment.

to my concultion the game is a massive overly flashy money grind game with a poor comunity and gameplay, and without a doubt is a pay to win game.

the only good note i did like about the game was the in depth reqiremnt to adjust and replace gear over time, cuting line to lenth and replacing withering reels and lost hooks and editing your equipment in a bit more realistic fastion, and the mechanics such as worn out line snapping and snags risking your line etc.. but such things with properly reach this game over time, as it improves gradualy over time with each patch fixing bugs and adding content,

when comparing the two i put full respect for the devs here and faith in this game, compared to fishing planets bunch of overaly blingie sellouts, the only reason they have such a big player base is like many MMOs they stay because they're addicted to buying new flashy content because it makes them feel cool, not because the game actualy plays good.
thats my verdict.

i spose your fair on the tackle, and maybe my own experience was just bad, but one thing i very much agree on is that we need fishing quests and daily challenges, i only yesterady spoke on such a matter on another discustion, another game i love playing ie: The Hunter - Call of the wild, has daily and weekly challenges with the odd community challenges that offer a topic for what you'd like to do, which is great if you want to play but have no plans or are just being casual.

these challenges are also a good way to earn money and exp should you forfill them within the time limit, our fishing game could definetly benafit from this too. we could have fishing challenges for catching a species list or catch a fish weight score, to weekly quests to catch a limit of bag weight in a spesific fishing venue. or more complicated challenges which make you have to catch a certern species to a score level or with a perticualr technique or fishing methiod.

as for rewards they don't have to be epic, they could be simple things from bonus exp, or small cash rewards, to a supply of bait, or even unquie baits and items that are only optainable through challenge rewards. The most satifactey rewards anglers would get of corse would be the fact they complete them, that is always pleasing for players.

and hopefully if such things exist maybe we may start seeing specail events in this game where we players can contriubet in something specail to earn speacil rewards or even unquie equipment that will become legacy items for collecting players, such things always brought warcraft players playing back ingame even for just the event.

do others agree?

Firstly, thanks for creating this thread. I’ve been one of the folks researching and asking a few questions on the boards, trying to get a feel for the good games out there. There are so many bad mobile ports and emotive discussions that it is hard to robustly assess what is likely to be good.

To date, I have only tried the fishing planet F2P version - I’ve sunk a fair bit of time into it over the last few weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

For me the pros:
Immersive environments; real sense of fighting the fish; good community
Unfortunately outweighed by the cons...
Horrible economics and outrageously priced DLC - you start to really feel the paywall effect. A bit buggy in places - not a major issue but enough to be annoying. Unclear way forward since the launch of the Fisherman.

I was seriously considering purchasing the Fisherman as for me that addressed the major con of the horrible economy, however there is no clarity or transparency from the dev/publisher on the way forward for new content. They have made it clear that new maps will come to the F2P version but they have not responded to any requests for roadmaps for the Fisherman - given that they are launching Mississippi as a new area in Nov and a new continent slated for January for the F2P version they ought by now to be able to make a clear statement as to whether they have any intention of making those available to the Fisherman either as free updates or paid DLC. More than anything else the fact that they haven’t even managed to issue a holding statement despite clearly reading the boards is enough to stop me buying until that is clear.

I can’t really comment in depth on others.
I’ve started trying RF4 - only a few hours in so far but the initial experience has not been positive at all. It feels cumbersome and unrefined, and even at the early levels I can see that the gear will never be affordable.

I’ve been therefore looking hard for alternatives - the posts on this board, the responsiveness from Raintek and some interesting YouTube reviews have made me seriously consider UFS as the game to purchase.

Worth noting that I’d never have considered buying a fishing game if I hadn’t had so much fun playing the F2P fishing planet - I fish IRL occasionally and just never expected a game to capture it well enough to be fun.

Hope others will take this thread up as raintek suggested and post some honest views on all the contenders.

acegamer Oct 28, 2019 @ 4:13pm
I will just say that for me personally the feature that has really put UFS over the top is the VR implementation. The immersion level while fisihing is VR is just incredible and this is the first "realistic" fishing game to provide that. The gameplay still needs some refinement but I've been very happy with the progressive improvements so far so I feel that it will only continue to get better.

I also much prefer the cost model in this game as I feel that I am more than getting my moneys worth from it. Paying for the additional DLC as it is produced is perfectly fine with me and I look forward to buying every new DLC that gets released.

I put a lot of time in Fishing Planet before VR became a thing and really enjoyed it. They had a VR mode that was actually off to a good start but they have dropped it and I have no faith that it will ever return. I do think that the graphics for some of the fish in fishing planet are better, but I have noticed improvement in that area on some of the newer fish in UFS so hopefully those improvements will continue. Especially since in VR I am able to get so close to the fish.

As I think back on it I honestly can't think of anything else that FP has done better enough to make me miss it now.

Not anymore though. The Fisherman removed all the f2p nonsense. All the advantages of Fishing Planet with none of the BS. f2p Fishing Planet is still the same story , but The Fisherman removes 90% of the issues.

The Fisher Online has been released and it's a brilliant game. Despite some server issues due to the sheer numbers of players playing, it has the potential to be the best and most realistic fishing game out there. Considering it's the work of a single dev it's amazing. Highly recommend you check it out.
I regard this game (UFS) as a fun game to play, though not a simulator I love the underwater views. FO is the closest thing to a simulator there is, RF4 is a simulator, but is spoilt by ultra greedy devs.

Aye, its REALLY good for the price, not griny and has many many features that for example players of RF4 has been asking for over a year. Absolutely worth getting imo, especially if you like many others are disgrunted RF4 player.

I agree. Would love to buy the Hunter: Call of the Wild. But I'm the kind of guy who likes to own the full game. It was on sale lately, but with all interesting DLC added on top, it's still too expensive to me. I'm waiting for a better offer. I'm in no hurry anyway.

If you dont want to get all the DLC then I would recommend getting the 2019 bundle + Weapon Pack 2, this alone will get you access to four huge areas to roam and excellent weapons in pack 2 will get you on fast track to progress instead of needing to hunt small animals around for ages.
