Flashlight, battery, help????

I wanted to write a negative review for this after stumbling around in the dark half my play time.. but despite reading about locomotion issues, flashlight bugs, I still decided it might be me and not fair to downvote/negative review the game.

Despite picking up 3, 4, 5 batteries in the house, at some point I change inventory items or die and my flashlight stops working. I try and put in a new battery and it doesn't work. I get no warning in advance the flashlight is going to die and know I have new batteries to replace the old. Yet still, I'm in the dark and can't really move forward without light.

I've shutdown the game and restarted and that seems to fix it, but it also then pushes me back in the storyline and I get frustrated.

Is there a trick to getting the flashlight to stay on and work, or is this a legit issue/bug? It's a good game.. but the controls are so friggin' frustrating.

I don't mind the locomotion as much as the inventory control and getting lights to work. I pick up 5 batteries and my flashlight still won't turn on no matter how hard I try (without resetting).

This is bug, I had some several times. I've tried to replace battery but can't use my left arm. It's just switch items and didn't use any. Batteries just dropped on the floor. For now one solution is to restart game. I mean restart whole game, not just relaunch, because as you said it restarting in strange way - you have all item you took but thier copies at their old places.
Still I could finished this game twice, so and it is not big problem. But I agree that this is not realy pleasure
