Tip for those struggling with in game performance
Hello, i am a recent fan of this series and have noticed the level of technical problems in my shortwhile of this particular game, however it is definitely a diamond in the rough and is very fun to me for what it is.
anyways in this version i noticed i was having severe difficulty playing on any setting other then low or medium and i could not figure out what was causing this issue, since my machine is of top quality specification as follows
Core i7 5820K
16GB DDR4 Quad channel @2666mhz
Radeon R9 295X2
Seasonic M12 II EVO 850W Power supply
it should be more then enough for a game with such simple graphics right? wrong...
This game utilizes OPENGL which is known for conflicting with AMD hardwareso this may or may not help you if you are on an NVIDIA graphics card anyways..
while playing my game i noticed sometimes when trying to do things rapidly, or going in and out of windows rapidly, or heck trying to do long range bombardment orders, my game would start to lag seriously and eventually all textures would disappear and the screen would become permanently black, the game would then lag uncontrollably with a framerate of about 1- 2 FPS and i would be forced to save and reset however usually after relaunching the game i would not be able to play for more then 2 -3 minutes without the issue coming back up... or i would not be able to load into the game at all!
I tried everything i updated my drivers, deleted XVID, reinstalled xvid, Disabled crossfire enabled crossfire messed with a bunch of radeon settings until i decided to check the error.txt log in the documents folder this game creates and it displayed this error spammed many times in the log.
[0:00:30 - 1807] Erreur openGL in Error vramload (L=4096 H=4096 B=-8) Retry=0, glTexImage2D (1285) : Out of memory

Weird... my graphics card has 4096MB of memory per GPU and i have 16GB of ram..anyways im not sure what causes this issue but ive found a solution to it and its odd..here is the proccess i do before i load or create any new game
1. Launch game
2. Before doing anything go into the options menu and click "Graphics options"
3. Adjust level of detail to either High or Very high
4. Hit save settings
If i do this the game Loads as intended and functions as intended and now even the most intense world wars do not cause lag on my system :). So if you're having a issue with the game not wanting to load or is lagging severely try this i hope it helps..
