Can somebody explain when I can touch/eat other worms?

I'm new to this game and tried to find instructions to no avail.
I was huge so I automatically assumed I could 'eat up and touch' other worms with slight smaller figures to take them over. Looks like this agar.io logic doesn't work for worm.is. I touched a tiny worm and my humongous one was dead. So how does this work? :)

There is only a few rules in Worm.is #1 dont touch the walls #2 dont run into other worms - make them run into your BODY not head - always protect your head even when your big. #3 dont touch the virus' they sap your mass. Stay alive as long as you can and remember no worm is your friend. Hunger Games is the same way - there are no teams in that game mode and the idea is to be the last worm standing. you can run into worms heads and kill them if your bigger than them

some parts are missing make sure they know "boosting when you have the most mass is hard and it decreases your chances of increasing your highscore" you said "boost like crazy" but thats wrong you should only use boost when turning, attacking, and escaping (only) if you want to increase your score and people should know that. boosting into a trail of mass is worthless if your score never go up you see. make sure people understand that boosting is more of a weakness then it is helpful
