As a rule of thumb and by default, each god is 100 times stronger than the previous. So, each 100x on rebirth multis will let you beat a new god if you do the same exact things in your new rebirth as you did in the previous. If you are climbing gods, better get the number in parenthesis in rebirth tab in the billion or trillion tiers.
If the new is higher than current, your new rebirth will be better, if lower, it will be worse. If its green, you will have more power to beat the gods, if it's red, less power.
There's a virtually infinite climb (within technical limitations of course) through numbered gods called P.Baals after that (although the first several P.Baals are renamed after patreon supporters now). There are more pet unlocks to get from a bunch of these gods (and P.Baal 5 for the first of those pets shouldn't be an unreasonable goal at this point) but climbing isn't necessarily your main concern in the game anymore. It's challenges.
After beating Baal you'll have challenges unlocked. Many of them will make you permanently lose the rebirth multis that you've been building up (which is not a big deal, despite how that may sound to you right now) and on top of that they may impose some sort of temporary restriction on what you're able to do, but the rewards for completing challenges will help make various aspects of the game easier.
General guidelines often suggested to newer players (post-tutorial) are to spend GP on:
* 245% CS (creation speed) bonus (this target sticks to the cost-efficient 35% for 10 GP (ignore the cheaper options) and gets you past the line where clones, light, and stone create at the game engine's maximum speed, assuming that you have over a certain amount of the creating stat)
* something like 150-200% BS (build speed) bonus per every 20,000 clone cap you have (ratio was calculated by some number-cruncher to be the most efficient way to improve monument build times)
* something like 1 CC (creation count) per every 20,000 to 40,000 clone cap you have (ratio lets you reach your cap within about 10 to 20 minutes)
* TBS (the Baal slayer, a crit damage mechanic that unlocks after beating Baal for the first time) related upgrades only when you can reasonably afford to spend the total 439 GP all at once on all of them
* future goal of some 3450% CS (value may be an overestimate, but this gets max speed on clones, light, and stone regardless of the creating stat)
Although make note that the CS and BS guidelines were written that way before CP (crystal power) became a thing. CP is a resource earned from rebirthing with crystals equipped. Crystals are made in the crystal factory. And the crystal factory is a feature which can be unlocked with your first completion of either the UBC (Ultimate Baal Challenge - many of the things you've worked for are temporarily reset and you must climb to Baal again), UAC (Ultimate Arty Challenge - not recommended, almost everything you've worked for is reset and your number of rebirths are limited and you must climb to Baal again), or UUC (Ultimate Universe Challenge - nothing is lost while in this challenge but the goal is not reasonable until after you've had time to build up stronger GP-purchased stats (clones, CS, BS), goal is to create 1 universe). CP counts as free CS and BS, which removes some of the burden of feeling like you need to spend GP on them (if you still want to use the suggested guidelines you can use your total bonuses in them). CP also boosts the effect of the boosts that can be granted from holding onto unspent GP.
Common advice for your first few challenges are:
1) DPC (Day Pet Challenge - get pet multis as high as you can within 24 hours, reward is a boost to the value of pet food, and it's scaled so that even a really crap score (which is what you'll get at this point) is worth a pretty decent boost)
2) 1st UBC for the crystal factory unlock
3) 1st GPC (God Power Challenge - just do whatever you want until you've earned a certain amount of GP within the challenge) for a pet unlock (and that pet will then have a small chance every time it's fed to grant you 1 free GP)
4) mostly DRC (Double Rebirth Challenge - the most basic version of the challenges which wipe out your rebirth multis when you start them, named because the start condition simulates as if you had rebirthed twice in a row with no time in between, nothing else is lost, goal is to reach Baal again) after that, although there are a few others that can also be reasonable to start working on around this time
