Only take one of the coin types with you into the dungeon, either any amount of A.F. Coins or at least 1 Fool Coin. The latter, I know that they also work outside of April 1st :)
But they should appear any time throughout the year. They were permanent additions to the game, not limited only to April 1st.
The more A.F. Coins you send in with the team the weaker Loof Slirpa is, and the only reward from it is more of his coins. There's nothing to work towards through Loof Slirpa kills (at least not currently, who knows whether or not Ryu revisits it in some future year's April 1st update). And the Fool Coin brings out Aprils Fool. It doesn't matter how many Fool Coins the team brings in because Aprils Fool will always scale based on how many of them you own. (Well... "always" so long as you satisfy a condition. Otherwise you get a much more difficult version of the fight regardless of the coins.) You get more Fool Coins each time you win but there's a secret pet to unlock and eventually evolve as well.
Try it with just one type of coin or the other, not both. And just 6 rooms to reach the boss room will be enough.
Off topic: Why the heck is Steam weird about some user's names? I mean, the topic creator here just has the number 76561198039823211 displayed instead of a name. Although you can mouse over it and see the actual name Hellpoemer in the pop-up. Nobody else in this topic shows as numbers, but I have seen others in other topics before this.
I haven't gotten around to trying to unlock it yet myself (although my pets probably could manage it (my gear is a bit weak but my DLs and CLs are better than the example on the wiki)) but I know that the unlock is a fairly high difficulty D3 type of activity. The wiki mentions high difficulty D3 mimic fights as the benchmark to compare it to. And by the time you can evo it you'll be doing fights 10 times more difficult than that.
The fight does have some quirks where just bringing any random team could be a mistake, though. Gotta be wary of its ability to make your pets confused. They might attack each other or heal the enemy.
And you have to show it that you know its name, or else you're going to get the ridiculously harder version of the fight instead of the one scaled to the number of coins you own.
