EDIT:
Just a few hours after the previous post, an update is here with an easter event that should allow you to get quite a lot of chocolate (and/or pet stones) regardless of your progress thanks to how the campaign doesn't care about growth, only pet bonuses and campaign length.
Edit: I just remembered that 4500 in 12 hours was with just 3 pets. I swapped all my non item specific pets over to food for the duration of the event.
I'm not sure how much time in the item campaign it takes me to collect that same number of pet stones... I'll guesstimate maybe 9-12 hours worth? I could be wrong but I don't think my item camps are making enough stones to match that number in 6 hours.
Hmm, 2700 stones / 3 hrs = average of 900 stones per hour. That can give... Oh, hey! I'm sure I won't have great timing about restarting the campaign as soon as possible when it's ready to complete (I'm sure I'll miss several hours here and there), but theoretically if I could keep it up without interruption the whole time the event could be worth (counting the eggs I already got from this first 3 hour run) a pet token plus about 10k or so extra stones by the end of it. So, yeah, that should be capable of giving a lot of players a very good push towards a token or some other big pet stone purchase (if they choose the stones instead of chocolate).
As I haven't evolved my Cupid yet, its a choice between evolving it or getting 90k pet stones and waiting until...Halloween? to evolve it. Unless I get a pumpkin before that.
The only things that affects the results are the campaign length and each pet's own bonus/malus (and it only applies to that pet like usual outside of the level campaign).
So basically send as many pets as possible for as long as possible, if you can cram pets that have bonuses on food campaigns and that's about it.
Thanks for the answer!
also, turns out it clearly says the stats of the pets don't matter when you hover the mouse over the Food Campaign name (I had completely forgotten about this)
Ah I forgot about that, thanks!
Thank you! I came here looking for exactly this information.
