Keys?
All of my alchemists have the ability to craft five "keys": Golden Key, Frost Key, Magma Key, Rainbow Key, and Mystic Key. All of them require no materials and take over a year to craft. Any ideas what they might be for?

I see no such thing on any of my alchemists... Wait, I think there's been an update or two that I haven't actually left the game to download yet. I'm still on 1359. (I've blatantly taken advantage of the bugged hitboxes in the new minigame, and I still suck at it even with that extra edge. I'm less than 200 away from maxing event currency obtained from the minigames though, and the ghost minigame from last year still works as well, so... meh. I'll update.)

Okay, up to date on 1361 now and I see what you're talking about. Almost 497 days needed with my best alchemist (Bottle, at CL 45 with SSS+15 Magic Pot). Weird.

Hmm... Each tooltip specifies a connection to a specific dungeon. And I think Ryu has mentioned on discord that he's working on adding depth 4 dungeons, hasn't he? Maybe they tie into that? (Nothing's been mentioned yet about them being ready. But maybe he's just getting some pieces in place ahead of the release.) A little task that we'd have to do to unlock them?

I'd imagine that there must be more to it than that though. Some trick to cut the crafting times to something reasonable. Or maybe the expectation is that we ought to have CL 100 alchemists and legendary pots before attempting to make the keys? How long would these things take for an alchemist like that?

Of course, these things also look incomplete with no art for any of them and with them all marked as neutral element despite the tooltips suggesting that they should all be different. They could change by the time they actually need to do something.

EDIT: Okay, with a quick search on discord I'm seeing mention of "D4 key events" and getting the materials for them from towers. It's a "just ignore it for now" thing, pending a difficulty rework of the towers and the addition of depth 4 to the dungeons.

from what i saw on discord they will be tied to D4 and time/no mats thing is due to these keys being a mere placeholder for now.

thank for that thread!

was wondering the same thing and couldn't find any info on wiki. I thought there were a new secret pet, and those keys were somehow tied to him (somewhat multi-element Chameleon v2.0) - but the things are simpler :wrynhappy:

It's only 1209 days, I'll finish it before I finish my current challenge. Those of you wondering what my current challenge is read my name a few times.

But if someone has a high enough alchemist, could they possibly aquire at least one of the Keys before the release of the new content?

sure they can, but it will be highly inefficient - and high-level players are all about minmax-ing everything. the amount of chocolate/nothing they may produce in the same time offsets those keys

but yeah, it will take for them ~220 days to finish one key (assuming Legendary Pot + ~lv70) - way faster than mine 376 days :cqlol:

such placeholders aren't the new thing: with Milestones upgrade there is supposedly a new pet for reaching 50m pet growth - but the pet isn't around and afaik there will be at least 3-4 months until someone reach that high (don't quote me on that)

Don't know about that. Having a key as soon as the new content comes might increase your chances of being the first a doing something, (killing a Boss? Getting an item? Maybe a new pet?) and some people enjoy those achievements.

Just look at Arty, isn't the challenge based on the incredibly inefficient challenge he put himself through?(I don't quite remember the story.)

no, what I mean is - the rules of obtaining the keys will be different after all things are set.
maybe there will be an extra event/boss in dungeons that speeds the crafting?
maybe the speed will be faster the more dungeon levels you have?
maybe there will be a new pet who creates them at x100 speed?
maybe each x100 killed dungeon bosses cut 0.5% of total time, or whatever?

the mechanics behind those keys isn't fledged yet. and starting the ~220days quest, only to 4 months later new patch introducing a feature to cut that time tenfolds to force you to quit and start anew - isn't the most optimal way, imho
