That said, there are a few pets that can be key like FSM for CBC (and any other time you want to run god power campaign) or the hermit crab (the easiest blacksmith pet to evolve).
I personally would go for the crystal slot without even a second thought, but that's because I tend to prefer fairly long rebirths where building up crystals makes a lot of CP.
You right missed a 0.
This is kind of why I was debating. Since I believe I read that you don't get pet tokens from lucky draws anymore just the stones equal to the tokens. I was stuck here trying to do the math on which was a better way to go.
Even if you did not have enough pets to run both the growth and item campaigns, the increase of 1 pet would not make that much difference, you could probably get pets faster by clearing the first 2 UACs and/or going up to baal 66 (yes, it is possible to reach that high even without late game stats, it takes a while in a single rebirth after you reached your limit from climbng normally).
I mean, if you stick to "get pets early", those two make a lot of sense (it does block other things for a while but you get a decent amount of GP from both as well).
On the other hand, there is no alternate ways to get crystal slots (other than paying real money of course), and the further you advance the more you will notice how nice it is to not have to spend all of that GP on BS and CS (you still spend on BS, but you get a lot more than just what you get from GP).
When you start to leave GP to boost stats permanently, CP will also make a massive difference (I am currently multiplying the boosts given by GP by a bit over 18 to give you an examle).
There are 2 early-mid game challenges that heavily impact CP (CPC and GSC), CPC even more or less requiring crystal slots to be completed in a decent amount of time.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you can't chose the pet, as I said in my first post there are a few pets that are definitely worth an early pet token as well, but if your only reason is "to get pet stones faster" I would suggest taking some time to do the math and see how much of a difference it would make.
FSM provides double gp gains in siad campaign AND provides a multiplicative boost to divinity generator based on its stats (so it multiplies on top of the Crystal multi, and still can work in challenges where you cant use crystals).
Long run, either of those 2 are great choices.
