More clones of build speed?

Idealy both would be best but I'm just wondering what is the more effectient way of getting a better build speed. Is it more clones or is it a higher building speed?

Clones are better than building speed because you can use then in other tabs. But if you are going for BS only use the ratio: 87,5% for every 10k clones on you're using on building tab.

Right, now I'm keeping my BS at 20k% and will upgrade my clones to BB power surge and to and 400% bonus at the divinity generator.

It depends on your numbers, but you can boos BS with other sources while you can't boost max clones that way.

Items (from item campaigns, real money or lucky draws), physical/ultimate crystals and crystal power can all be used to grant you a fairly big boost to BS, with the first two being "this rebirth" but boosting quite a lot at once.

If you think about it, even just a rank 15 physical crystal (fairly easy and fast to get even without the paid options) gives you 45% increase to BS (as well as 7.5 BS through crystal power when reincarnating).
Compare the amount of GP you would need to get that much based on your current BS, then see how many clones you could get instead, you can usually take care of the whole crystal factory with that number alone and still have some left for other things (like building).
Leaving the game in offline mode for about 9 hours during the night and only a level 2 physical module should get you enough for the rank 15 crystal, and it doesn't even require defenders when offline, so all you need is a fairly low level divinity generator that is fed stones by clones.

I am definitely not saying that BS is not worth GP, because that really depends on where you are (current GP stats) and your available GP (as well as income of it), because every time you increase it means that the percentage based boosts from items and crystals are going to give that much more.
Also keeping in mind that a massive increase in clone count should go with a CC increase to compensate for the extra buildup time, but that also helps getting other creations faster and cheaper, so actually finding what is the best option for your specific case might not be as easy as that.
