I usually get it to 250, plus the 50 "ghost" levels from CBC and the cap is still 187,500 (I leave it to 375,000 anyway but still).
EDIT: Also, are the defender clones set to that amount and auto-fill enabled?
I also never had problems with offline kills on UBs so far but my offline periods are always at least several hours long (I close it for the night).
I did notice that the CAP button sets an amount that is not necessarily enough to kill that UB while the game is open without pushing might or equipping crystals, not sure if it could be related or not.
If it helps, I always leave my defender clones to 375,000 (the amount required with 100 might levels, so CBC + DRC), if you can spare a few hundred clones it might be worth trying that value next time.
ITRTG was the only active Ultimate Being and it says that the next attack will be in two minutes. I went offline and came back after about 45 minutes and IRTG was still there.
I thought my defender clones would fight against an active UB when it attacks me.
