Cant seem to use the key combining machine

I got the red and yellow key, but it wont allow me to combine em, any idea?

Are you trying to combine them at the workshop machine presser thing?

Have this same problem. Got both keys trying to combine them on the machine in the workshop and nothing happens.

Ended up dumping out of the game because I was out of pens and hoped the new key might open some drawers. Couldn't find any more pens and had to quit.

You have to play in normal mode or more, it doesnt work in easy/very

I had started in normal and then went back to easy because of the janitor. I'm not the best gamer, but I wish I wouldn't keep running in to these roadblocks.
