Can't get Tapper to work.(solved)

So I just bought NRA and Tapper is the first rom to cause me trouble. I tried both the Budweiser and Rootbeer versions. I have tried using the 2 MAME dlls that came in the NRA set up download folder. 2014 and 2015. But any combination I try keeps on crashing to the desktop whenever I go up to the machine and press start.Tapper is one of my favorite arcade games and I really wanted it in my arcade. Any solution would be greatly appreciated.

Could you please give me the EXACT filenames of the ROMs you were trying to use?

Turns out Tapper needs an additional file present in the ROMs folder to run. I couldn't get the game to boot until I added it. You'll want to look for midssio.zip and place that inside of your ROMs folder alongside your Tapper ROMs.

There's no need to extract anything, just place the zip files in the roms folder.

Sorry to bug you again but I can't seem to get Defender to work. Im trying to load games manually one at a time instead of instead of copying the entire NRA ready folder because when I
did that the framerate went down to like 20fps. I think it was because of all the splash screens.

Now im not sure if its because I am missing files that I need to copy or what but when I start the
machine for defender it goes to a corrupted static image for a second before crashing. I am trying to copy the Defender rom from the NRA ready folder. Is there a tutorial somewhere to help me?

Defender is a bit unique in how it functions. The corruption you see is just part of it's standard bootup sequence, many games do this.

What you need to do is let the game reach it's inital setup screen using the MAME 2014 core, leave the machine and then load up a different arcade game. This process saves the data for the Defender cabinet. Once you return the game should boot correctly.

I'm not sure why you are experiencing crashing however. If I had to guess, you have a bad ROM file.

Ok I got it.I think it was a bad rom I downloaded.I had forgot to replace it with the one from the NRA ready folder. For some reason though it says failed to load game at startup even though it proceeds to load it just fine.

Edit:It doesnt seem to be letting me move left or right for some reason.

Are you sure you're pressing the correct buttons? Defender's horizontal movement isn't controlled with the joystick, but rather buttons.

Your right it was just the buttons.Pretty weird the movement isnt by joystick.

I'm not sure if it would be possible, but you could try and rebind the controls by pressing TAB and selecting "Input(This Game)". I would just rebind the thrust button to both left and right so that you'd only need one button the change direction.
