MAME crashing the game

I've tried mutliple versions of MAME and MAME ROMs. I've looked it up to make sure I'm using the right version of ROM with the right version of emulator. Right now I'm trying to run 0.78 ROMs with mame2003_libretro. I was trying to use more up to date ROMs with mame_libretro and mame2014_libretro. I've tried running a couple different games, but I'm mostly trying to get The Simpsons working. I get the same result every time. It crashes NRA:N.
Every other emulator works great, although it's next to impossible to see the gamebro screens.

If someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong, that'd be great. I've read the guide for setting up arcade machines. I didn't see it mention anything about ROM versions.

Could you share the exact file names of the ROMs you're trying to run?

Try a diffrent down load
Simpsons works fine for me using mame 2014

I'm trying to run "simpsons.zip" and "simpsons2p.zip". I've tried rom versions "0.78", "1.64" and "1.77". I've tried using all versions of MAME. Some versions of MAME don't crash NRA:N, it just shows a black screen on the arcade machine.

I'm not well versed in ROM versions yet, but you said some versions worked and some didn't.

Are you using the 2014 core for all of these or no?
