Games with CHD file
Has anyone gotten a game with a CHD file to work in NRA:N? I'm beginning to think that i'm doing something wrong with these files. Also, if you got some working, which games did you get to work in NRA:N? Every game with a CHD file that I tried immediately crashes NRA:N . Maybe it's the ones that i'm selecting (many that I've tried are 3D games with around a 150Mb to 400Mb CHD file)

I find mame 2014 and 2015 which is actually an older version of mame are the most compatible for NRA:N hence thats why they only list those 2 to try in NRA:N... You need to remember the standalone version of Mame has been going since 2007 and is at the stage where it gets updated monthly so its down to the guys at libretro of which version and how often they what make a core version as it takes alot of time for them to do that .. Like any emulator the more its worked on the more games become combatible.. Like Vermillion said before you really need to say which games with chd files did work in NRA:N even if you list just 1 or 2 becouse not every game with a chd file works in Mame as it hasnt been emulated just like any game

can you share your version of 2014 please? should be legal ! then i can test it with retroarch outside nra

I got a little closer:

runing mame2014.dll with retroarch failed running kinst.zip because it could not find the chd.
i did an edit to the retroarch.cfg and removed the : for /system .. and now it works ! it also creates a mame2014 folder inside my rom folder.

NRA still fails to load but i think it's not giving the correct path or options to the .dll
can anyone cofirm the same? i think we can create bug report out of this

So far i've tried NFL Blitz, SanFrancisco Rush, Hyper Athlete, and Carnevil. They all run fine in standalone MAME but trying it in NRA:N the video is distorted in every one. Has anyone worked out a fix or work around for the resolution problems on a lot of games in NRA:N yet?

Not as yet im afraid as i really wanted Carnevil / Hyper Athlete and SanFrancisco Rush to render correctly as well BUT i have posted in the bugs section of the discussion so hopefully the devs pick up on it and hopefully a solution can be found

Those games use rather specific rendering modes(3DFX is the GPU they use) and I'm not sure if NRA:N supports them because of that. I did manage to get NFL Blitz to run using the 2015 core, but it renders at a wonky resolution.
