So does this work as multiplayer now?
With the steam remote play together, can we play ROMS multiplayer?

You can use Remote Play Together to stream New Retro Arcade: Neon to someone else as if you were playing the game on the same computer with a friend sitting next to you. All they'll need is a GamePad to act as a second controller.

The only thing from what I experienced is even with the remote play together option Cartridge games seem to not be playable in multiplayer still... The arcade MAME games work just fine however. You'll have to have player 2 setup there controls tho if you don't know how to do that just start the arcade game that has multiplayer then press tab you should see a menu involved with controls

This would be a great time to advertise that like some games are doing, and add index support (since the games doesn't use steaminput I can't just remap it easily). I'm sure there's a huge flood of people coming for VR.

My crystal ball tells me Valve Index will be sold globally to coincide with the release of Alyx Half Life. This means, there will be a larger influx of Index owners and further opportunity to sell NRA:N, assuming OOTB Knuckles controller support is made available.

Can both players be in VR for this?

Probably not, remote play is giving them input inside your PC, basically control over your mouse and keyboard or over a gamepad port.

Sorry to bring and old post but, does it means I have to attach two controllers in my computer in order to invite a friend to a remote play session? Thanks.

No. Remote Play together just requires the second player to have a controller.

Thanks Vermillion. That's what I'm doing with a friend (both with an xbox controller) and when he push any button inside MAME, his NRA crashed.
We'll continue to find what happend.
