Stereoscopic Side by Side mode
Is there going to be a way to just have the game play in stereoscopic view without an Oculus or Vive, so I can use a smartphone headset for VR?

I actually asked Dec about this a while back. Turns out there is a launch option you can turn on that enables Stereo but the cameras are wrong so you can't really use a Google Cardboard or similar. Unless there is some way to swap the viewpoints on an Android device, then I'm afraid it isn't possible right now.

Vermillion> What do you mean that the cameras are wrong? Left and right eye switched or warped distortion? Or something else?

Switched.

I think there are options out there for google cardboard. TrinusVR is one. Vridge Riftcat another. Kino VR. Have you tried any of these? Also, having SbS video is not enough for VR. You also need to distort the image properly for each unique set of lenses. Fortunately there is an online cardboard profile that you can use and many cardboard apps use the coardboard profile for the user's system (android, ios, etc.)

Okay so if you hang your head off the bed and play upside down, then it will be correct stereo albeit upside down. ;)

I tried Kino, but unless I get a side by side view option, it won't be especially effective

Kino VR, not Kino (two different apps). I think the apps I am speaking of intercept the render camera and double it themselves. Especially this is what I think Trinus VR does. The right VR app takes camer of this for you. I have done it successfully already. I did not output SbS from game, the apps took care of it for me. It think it is called vr streaming.

When I was testing it by myself, I was using Moonlight to see if the viewports were in the proper position. It wasn't but it wasn't laggy and the stream quality was really nice thanks to NVIDIA's GameStream software.

Perhaps if there was some way to swap the two sides of the image on the Android side of things, I think this might be a nice way to give a cheaper alternative to VR, at least in NRA:N.

Moonlight is open source so perhaps some aspiring coder can take a crack at it eh?

Here's hoping, because I'm a long way from getting my hands on a VIVE

Wow thank for info, I never got it working but they seem to have come a long way. This seems very platform open. So looking at github, they seem to have the PC servers for all Win or OSX and the clients for IOS or Android. I'll have to try it...

This video seems to suggest that Trinus VR is needed with moonlighting. I seem to recall there were many options that one could configure in Trinus VR (I'm not sure if swapping the eyes L/R was one of them.

Interesting article on someone using Trinus and Vireio Perception. Vireio Perception, if it works with NRA:N, would provide it's own 3d image, so reversal of SbS should not be an issue. Trinus takes care of the streaming and head tracking (I think Trinus can also use other installed head tracking software).

This one has already done an app that do the same:

And it works!

I do not think 3ye will fix the reversed L/R image in the Stereo Mode of NRA:N which is the problem this thread is discussing. I think 3ye is only streaming and head tracking so therefor depends on the video game to create the 3D image. The solution I was suggesting will create the stereo L/R SbS image outside of NRA:N and therefore maybe able to work to allow VR mobile users stream their game to a cheap headset. For this to work you need software that generates the two views L/R for 3D like Trinus.

There is a way to use moonlight streaming and google cardboard to fake an OSVR headset. At least for an iOS phone, not sure if there's an andriod version yet.
