GM, Manager, or GM and Manager for beginner
I recently bought the game and I am trying to figure it out little bit by little bit. this is my first sports simulation game. As someone starting out, should I start as the GM, the Manager, or both the GM and Manager for my first playthrough or two?

For a first timer i would suggest GM & Manager. Create a fictional league using whatever options you prefer (relegation or closed league). Also insert a couple of minor leagues so to get familiar with the micromanagment that comes with minors. Play a couple of seasons so to see what are your preferences (playing out every game; jump in at late innings situations or simulate entire games) and then start a MLB quickstart.

Having just started recently.

I'd say the poath to an easier learning curve is to start unemployed. Then when you apply its only minor league jobs available as a manager.

This is a great way to start because you'll be focused on maximizing your lineups and learning what strategies work for you as a manager without worrying about any other details. Plus if you do a good job you'll get promoted to a AAA team or after the first year youll be able to apply as a GM.

Once you are a GM you have the big choices and if you liked managing you can still play a role or leave it to the manager you hire.

Or having learned it you can always go back and restart fresh as a manager and gm or whatever your preference is......I really think starting as a manager is the best way for the learning cruve because you have to respond to a lot of player demotions and promotions and trades and restrcuture your line up and it makes you care about each game. WHere as on GM you may miss a lot of these details because you are overwhelmed with running the franchise and trying for the perfect trade!
