Lag FIX: DXWnd
Guys, if your game is laggy and choppy (talking especially to my fellow Win 8 users), get a program called DXWnd: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/

It makes the game run smooth as silk, if you can excuse the cursor trails in the menus and playing in the medium resolution (required for it to work!)

Also, do yourself a favor with this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2803612

First you need to make sure 'Robin Hood' is in the list of games you have in DXWnd. Just delete the list that's already there and make sure you only have the games you wanna use DXWnd for in the list (I only have Robin Hood). Use Edit / Add to tell DXWnd where you've installed Robin Hood.

Then, right click on it, go to 'Modify', then tick 'Hook enabled', 'Run in Window' and 'Remap Client Rect'. Below, tick 'Keep Aspect Ratio' and 'Desktop center' and put your screen resolution where it says 'W' and 'H' (my resolution is 1920 x 1080, so I have W 1920 H 1080).
Then, go to 'Window' above and tick 'Lock win coordinates' and 'Lock win style'.
Lastly, go to 'Mouse' and tick 'Hide cursor'.

Now exit 'Modify', right click on Robin Hood in DXWnd and say 'Run'.

That's how it works for me.

Try 0 as values for both X and Y (Window initial position) and apply all the options I mentioned in the post a little above. If it doesn't work then, I'm afraid I can't help you.

Thanks Thenikus, that helped till i used ( see view of enimys ) or what ever it is caled to see their sight view in yellow. Barely able to right click it to turn it off once i activated it .. it was so laggy lol
Thanks again every one :)
I tried with many combinations of ticks & unticks (and everyone suggested here) but in any case the game crashes when i select run ("Robin hood has stopped working" + progress bar). Any ideas?

Nope, sorry. If you've already done all that, I can't help you.

How the hell did you run the game with this program?
You literally can't run the game from the folder's shortcuts (displays an error every time), at least I can't. The only way I can run the game is via steam.
I tried every possible fix I found but nothing worked.
Even with the german fonts the fps increased like 25%.
So sad I can't play the game.

If adding the game to and starting it via DXWnd doesn't work for you, than it might just be that - it doesn't work for you. Sorry to say that. I share your frustration, but I can't help you :(

Thanks for finding the fix! I gave you a mention and outlined some steps to setting up robin hood for DXwnd in my review http://steamcommunity.com/id/theatrum/recommended/46560
