Yeah, same issue. I think the very few people who have uploaded screenshots to Steam used that technique for uploading screenshots without taking them through the Steam Overlay function. A guide for it can be found here, for example: https://altarofgaming.com/steam-upload-external-screenshot/. It's pretty complicated but worth it. :)
