The game crashes at start

After clicking on Play on Steam, the game launches and gives me the intro movie. Then, it crashes. I am on Windows 10. Why that? HELP!

OK I solved the issue. Just right click on the game. Properties, and run compatibility to Windows 98/Me, check Run as Administrator and reduce DPI and do the same for all users settings below. It will work! Any question, post here!

this (along with tweaking a couple of other things that people reccomended) seems to have got it working on my machine which is running windows 10.

SoI have already started playing. Seems fun. Where are you at in the game? I have already interrogated many persons. I am where I need to find differences in the painting.

By the time I got it set up yesterday I ran out of time to play it, but I just played a little bit this morning and I got to the doctors office (what is it about medical facilites in video games always being situated in haunted castles?)

Thanx for the info on this fix Ali. Worked great. I was lost at first about your 'reduce DPI'. In Windows 7 it is called 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings'. I was trying to reduce settings in Nvidia, but it wasn't working. Damn computer dummie I am. Again, thanx.

Hi peoples, I got the same Problem as Ali, with the exception that my OS is Win8...
I've tried the 98/ME kompatability and everything that was mentioned by Ali... but
it still stops after the intro... isn't there a patch or something? Any help?

This might help someone:

I had a problem starting the game with Windows 10. Just a black screen with sound and the game crashed if I tabbed out. I tried every compatibility and administrator fix I could find and nothing worked. Finally when screwing around with it I found out that when starting the game it threw the game screen over my actual desktop, so I fixed it with holding down the Windows-button and pressing down-key to move the active screen.

Ive done all the above, but still only sound and black screen. Double click the game icon, sound is there, and screen turn black. Any ideas?

Running win 10 and dual monitors.

Is there any patch for this ♥♥♥♥? Nothing works on my PC? Microids logo shown, then sound and crash no matter what compatibility I check? This is really annoying although I already heard its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. But I want to try is because of Still LIfe 1-2.

How do you do this? in game folder or in steam

it seems that the game does not know how to change the aspect ratio...it only supports 4x3.
changing the desktop resolution to something 4x3 and running the game normally from steam works. note that using higher desktop resolution than 2048x1536 does not work..even if it is 4x3 aspect ratio.
