For a ship parts - I have not found how perks works. For more than 100 destroyed ships - I did not get a single schematic. Best way that I found - board ship but do not sell it. Loot, then leave and destroy after. In that case you can get parts from board looting and parts from destroying.
But for ship parts, crafting is not so important. They are not so OP as ground equipment. Faction's legendary ship parts are very good and easy to get.
Though the ground combat is good for your team for sure. My basic advice would be to save up enough Tokens to outfit your dream ship ... you were curious about the Behemoth right? Even with high standing {Friendly or Allied} you are looking at roughly 234 million. High Charisma {over 200} can save more.
This is all based on the premise that the player puts Space off and prepares for it ... but you will want to work for Conrair, Civilion, and Aralion. They are the Houses that sell Ship Equipment for Tokens.
Let us pretend you want to trade your current ship for your dream ship {say a Behemoth lol}. Aside from the ~200 Mil you will need ... you desire to install all Legendary Items before anything.
Conrair sells the FTL {~550}, Cargo Expansion {~600} and the Refiner {~350}. You will want to save ~1500 Tokens.
Civilion sells Electronics {~550}, Hull {~350}, and Targeting Computer {~450} ... so ~1350 foe them.
Aralion sells all the weapons, Warp Drive {~550}, and Shields {~450}. Assuming you want both a set for offense for your Behemoth and a set for mining ... ~2200 Tokens .... for a total of ~6500 for Aralion alone.
These values are upper end and usually lower ... so you should technically need less. It is also possible to see a spread, make an estimate like "~450" as the game might show a list of the lowest end ones. But aye ... these are estimates leaning toward high on purpose.
Max payout for a mission is 180 Tokens for a 6 cell Map {150 for 5}. The player cannot determine this as it is decided upon taking the mission. So you get a 5 or a 6 long one. Though no rule saying it has to be a clearing mission ... so door to door to whatever gets between you and the boss if desired.
On my current new file I am way off on the money part lol ... I already have the Tokens and need another 170-180 million lol. Still that team is young still and plenty to do on the ground. Still I may earn extra for Conrair to buy and sell FTLs for some added cash iff needed later. Since I am salvaging everything {as expected} ... not a lot being sold. I did it different in the past, but that led to some crafting schematics being delayed as I was selling things I should have salvaged lol.
@msor definitely shoot for harder difficulty ... just in case. Look at your crew's Space average and try for +10. When I follow the "build up to space" routine above, I often see them drop pretty fast. Coupled with the difficulty and a good spot. The above "suggestion" eliminates some of the build up as the ground team develops toward space.
Last time I followed my own advice I had all the schematics dropped for free before the
first Space crew was half way {~50/100} to master. I specifically did no space Salvage before earning all the Legendary schematics. Pretty sure that will all work for my current file as well {let you know lol}. As I "begin space"with a Behemoth I can hold a lot so Salvage can be ignored mostly ... though funny how selling it all would have helped acquire the ship in the first place ... sadly a point in time per my "routine" where the only real expense in the game was met already.
As above working for Aralion takes a bit as they sell all the weapons ... so as part of that ~6500 is 4 mining lasers for the Behemoth when it becomes time to begin the Mining. Not just for the skill, but to collect all the stuff I will need for the Epic grind and to craft anything else.
Happy hunting :-).
Just choose a station with 'good' layout, whose crafting table and the storage are close. They are a bit far in my station, lol, have to spread out my guys to interact with them.
