Mining and weaponry

Does weaponry skill effects mining? Considering that mining is done by weapon of sorts its kind of logical or am i imagining things?
Im training secondary miner ,its kind of easier to switch weaponry guy than to switch perks, and i'm under impression that character with weaponry does slightly better job,or am i just seeing ghosts?

I have not worked on mining ina while, but you are right to notice that the char slotted in the Weaponry station has their Mining skill increased when mining. Again been awhile, but if I remember correctly the higher the Weapon Station gets you can apply some perks to make mining even faster ... such that it stacks with speed ups that increasing Mining gives.

Add the relatively new +10% speed up for using a mining ship and you will feel it.

I'll ask another question. Does the use of a mining laser affect the improvement of weapon skill? As the starter topic correctly noted, the mining laser is also a weapon.

No. That skill only goes up when fighting other ships. Mining lasers are not offensive weapons.
