I admit it would be nice, with each update, to get a few pointers from BA as to what they are specifically looking for feedback on...because that would stop us posting about things they already know about and they have plans to get fixed as the releases roll out.
So for instance, there is no ball marker in DBC17...but it is easy to think that there is at first glance. What you think is a ball marker is, in fact, a target for nets and practice only. It has no affect on the delivery...it is just something for you to aim at if you want to practice hitting a particular spot with certain deliveries. So if you want to practice bowling back of a length outside off stump, put the target there and it provides you feedback on how close you got with your delivery.
I've found the batting a lot better than DBC14 even in the current beta. I'm not sure that trying to play a cover drive to a ball going down legside should be possible. It's not just the shot you select that counts but the selection in the context of the delivery....if you can cover drive a legside ball, it would make setting a field and bowling a line largely irrelevant.
Anyway, keep an eye out for updates on Fridays and I'm sure the whole thing will coalesce into a thing of brilliance by December.
Granted they're likely using these interchangeably but I want to point out that the demo and beta are different concepts really.
Lets see what the updates bring. So far it is not as appealing as DBC 14 which was superb right from the demo/beta.
If it ignores my input for cover drive and does its own correction for ball going down leg, then it is the AI playing for me and not me playing which is not what I want at all.
Anyways, my post was to provide specific feedback on the demo/beta whatever and judge for myself. As mentioned before, I will buy the product.
I even bought Ashes 13 and did not even refund that. It was a shabby game but a cricket game nonetheless.
I have tried to cover drive also and I don't think it is an issue with the line...I just think it is missing at the moment.
Graphics also seem very bleh. Esp compared to DBC 14.
all developers made mockery of this wonderfull game now i can say for sure DBC will improve with every update and major release
my best wishes for BIGANT team
EA made some really good cricket games for its time and I hoped they would continue.
Briefly tried the demo. First thought, batting seems improved. Bowling seems a bit trickier, but in a good way. Overall, it's enticing.
Nice to see people are still offering demos in this era of scamware :)
- poor graphics quality
- very low fps - ~24fps when the earlier demo version gave me ~50fps on older HW gaming laptop with no changes to graphical settings
- camera is now very annoying - as soon as you hit the shot, the camera cuts away to some long view. I liked it before where it allowed you to see the batsman's follow through and swung nicely around
- almost impossible to hit 4s or 6s (only got 4s because of edges and a lucky 6 once)
- shot selection is ignored many times and it does its own thing
This game is a step backward compared to DBC14 which is THE Cricket game of all time imo
Actually I disagree on that. DBC 14 was stellar. It is such an amazing cricket game tbh. And I'm not sure what you mean premium price. It is priced like how all other games are priced at $60.
DBC17 demo isn't laughable. It has some issues but it isn't laughable at all. It's ok to judge a game on graphics and yes DBC 17 graphics are below par but the gameplay is still pretty good.
I too like good graphics and it plays a huge part in my decision as well (Else we'd all be playing pong still instead of Rockstar games presents Table Tennis) but DBC 17 isn't terrible as you're making it out to be.
I'll be certainly preordering it (when though???) and will support this developer. They seem like honest people wanting to make a good game. Hopefully they put in really strict anti piracy measures (make pirate game ball a plastic floaty ball or a gigantic soccer ball ;) and make it online only for several years like Diablo 3 to thwart piracy. Or make pirated games "Drunk"... where everything wobbles ;)
