Problem solved!

My machine originally came with Windows 7 and after getting sick of Windows 8 and all the crashes that happen with AMD APU's I reverted back to the factory default settings, and guess what... get rid of Windows 8 and it works a treat!!!

Even Microsoft have admitted there are issues on their forums, but I don't think they're bothered enough about their AMD-owning customer base to release a fix.

Looks like Windows 8 is the culprit, at least for me...

huh, I've never had a problem with Windows 8 + my A8-3500. I even bought Windows 8 on Day One and expected to spend the weekend fighting it.

Sadly, but expectedly, the compatibility settings are useless as is mostly the case. I'll keep fiddling with it but hopefully someone fights a fix that doesn't involve downgrading Windows ;)

The solution is:

- Navigate to your steamapps/common/Syberia folder
- Right-click on Game.exe and choose Properties
- Go to Compatibility tab
- Check the "Reduced color mode" checkbox and set the dropdown to "8-bit (256) color)"
- Click OK and run Game.exe

That would be a nice alternative to DXGL, but it doesn't solve the mouse problem, at least for me so I assume for WIndows 8 in general :<

It worked for me too to set XP compatibility and 8-bit (256 colors) mode in properties of the game.exe file without any renaming.

The "8-bit" fix works, but still... the game doesnt look so good. Is there another solution to play the game in 16-bit ??

For those who have the low framerate problem after fixing the 3D Accelerator problem. I simply solved it changing the settings IN-GAME.

1) Go to OPTIONS.
2) Change the color to 32-bit.
3) Active the Antialiasing.
4) Reboot the game.
