Syberia on Windows 10

If you experience an issue to launch Syberia with Windows 10, you can follow this procedure:

1. Go into your Syberia 1 or 2 folder located in the Steam folder, on your PC.
2. Right-click « Game.exe » and select « Properties »
3. Go to the « Compatibility tab »
4. Select « Run this program in compatibility mode for: »
- select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or Windows 95/ Windows ME
5. Select « Reduced color mode » : 8-bit (256) color
6. Select « Run this program as an administrator »
7. In some case : try the two others check box (in particular, the 640X480 mode)
8. Click « APPLY », then « OK »

compat mode for win 95
8 bit colours

before i got the game to work i started syberia.exe and it started harry potter instead
3 times it did that

AMD hd 7770 on win 8.1 game runs fine
do not alt tab or half the screen disappear
alt f4 to exit theres no quit button
game saves work fine
usually pretty easy to get old games to run/kinda the same as forcing myst masterpiece edition to work or sierra lighthouse/kings quest 7:)

use the game.exe not the steam play button otherwise ya cant see the game:)
are there any launch commands to get the steam play button to behave?
for now i have a desktop shortcut that works:)
i think its using dx11 oh well it runs very well thankyou

i did install several very old versions of directx\direct play etc
kinda reminds me when i had to install directx 5 and vb redist via dosbox or anything exe that would work on win 8.1 to be able to het sierra lighthouse to run without dosbox
maybe google games specs from the ancient cd version of this game and install ancient direct x
steam play button does not work(steam play button either starts harry potter goblet of fire old cd game or goes black screen)
you have to tinker with the exe file and make a shortcut to it and force it to work via compatabillity mode for windows 95 admin and disable high dpi and run in 8 bit colour mode
i did get it working in 16 bit colour but app crashes often
8 bit colours runs fine alt tab crashes game etc
experiment with it every pc is different and win 10 is crap stay on 8.1
still devs should make a patch esp for win 10 users
i hate win 10 nothing old works

For all of you who tried to run Syberia 1 and 2 on modern operating sysystem like Windows 7/8/10 and encountered problem like 3D Accellerator Error, Glich, problem to run the game i founded a simple solution without use compatible mode or clor reduction.

i resolved in a very simple way using the program "dgVoodoo 2", a program created to emulate old graphic card and libraries.

Research the program with google and download the last version (iyou will download a rar archive)

In the rar you can find an exe file and two folders claeed "Glide" and "MS"
After the download copy the .exe file and the libraries file (MS Folder) in thw sirectory where you installed Syberia 1 oe 2.
Select the option Fullscreen and the voice "Streched" to have the full screen filled.
To the voice "Output API" select "Best Aviable one"
To the voice "Adapter to use" select "All of them"

Go to the tab DirectX and tho the voice "Videocard " select "dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accellerator Card"

Click on the Botton Apply and after on "Ok",

Close the program and run Syberia with Game.exe.

Syberia 1 and 2 should go without problems

haha lol xd i tried that and it starts harry potter instead of syberia so if voodoo thing doesnt work use the devs solution the game still looks ok n still works to the end
syberia 2 works on win 8.1 without doing any of those things just press play
dunno why siberia exe starts harry potter(so does the steam play button) but at least i can play siberia with the devs solution with a desktop shortcut

If your strickly windows 10 and deleted windows old this option is basically null to you correct. oh wow. i will never be able to play syberia again. Thats ufortunate.

Same. Running Windows 10 Anniversary and both games work just fine. That said, when I had an AMD video card, the games wouldn't work at all, but once I got a NVIDIA card, they worked without issue.

Non of the solutions in this forum worked for me. The Game crashes always to desktop with the "Syberia Executabel dont work anymore" Error. In my Case the only thing i must do before i start the Game: Press windows-key + P to bring up the Monitor selection Menu and set from "Computer or PC" to Double Display or Both Displays (dont know the exact description in English use the german version of windows) and the Game runs in Fullscreen and streched to 16:9 but you need a second monitor connected to your graphic card otherwise you cannot select the double display option. All other things like Compatibility Mode, Player.ini, dgvoodoo2, set to 8bit, run as admin or all the other things are not necessary for me. Hope it help someone else who has still Problems with this Game and it works for Syberia 2... too :)
