The solution to my problem was to install the Gold Edition, which includes both chapters, and give up on the Steam versions. I still had to use dgVooDoo, but this time the picture didn't stretch.
So, playing the game I found out I had the problem with the black lines, too. The fix suggested doesn't work, so I tried a lot and the only solution that actually works is if I set the original 800x600 resolution on dgVooDoo.
Unfortunately, this makes the picture very small on my Full HD screen. I figured I simply had to change my own resolution, but unfortunately my laptop doesn't allow me to got under 1024x768.
With this resolution the image becomes acceptable and the black lines are gone, but on a 15'' monitor it would have been nice to have it full screen.

I also found out that enabling "Displaying pointer trails" in mouse properties hides the mouse when playing! I might not be the first to have found this solution or any for that matters. I'm just trying to make it even clearer to people how to make this work best for them.
Very big thanks to toni.rhcp for creating this thread!
I'm also crediting this guide as it is where i found out about dgvoodoo2.
Is anybody else having the same problem? I honestly don't know what's worse, playing this game at default resolution, or playing in HD but with those weird lines...
It seems to be a known issue with the software.. Haven't either found a solution to that.
It would be something similar like scaling an old 3d game and see the background between the poligons.
This doesn't happen when you use dx11 as backend in dgvoodoo2 but thanks to f****** amd drivers the graphics looks all white or corrupted. This didn't happen when I post the guide.
I had the same problem, my "solution" was to play the game in the original 800x600 resolution and change my monitor's resolution to have it "sort of" full screen. "Sort of" means my monitor doesn't allow me to lower my resolution to 800x600, but with 1280x720 (or 1280x600, which in this case gives the same outcome) the picture is large enough to play the game on my 15' laptop (to my calculation, the picture I get has the size of a full screen on a 12,5' screen, which is the best solution I could find to get rid of the lines and play the game with an acceptable picture size with the original quality).
I hope this helped you.
I had also tried to follow the instructions here to get rid of the "No 3D accelerator" issue: https://steamcommunity.com/app/46500/discussions/0/2765630416809470215/, but the problem there is that the game takes minutes to open.
I commented about this, couldn't find a proper solution. If you card supports dx12, download the latest version of dgvoodoo 2.72 and set it up using dx12 as backend renderer in main tab "Output API" option. There is a problem with cinematics tough (in my pc at least)
Wined3d and dgvoodoo can't be used at the same time, there can be only one.
I did try this but it did not change anything: the opening scenes were fine, but then the main menu and game looked like in the screenshot. It's a curious problem but I don't know where to look to debug it beyond the Syberia startup logs.
Yes, you cannot use both Wine3D and dgVoodoo at once. When switching between them I have to remove the .dll files associated with one before I can run it with another.
