Martian university always empty
Do i need to put the university in the same dome where people live and work to actually function? im confused. I have many many not specialized colonists and the university is always empty. I created a main dome as living space, and two others connected to this first one, one where i placed the university.

In my other run i did exactly the same and it seemed to be ok, but maybe it was because i had colonists living in the same space?

If you used passages to reach the university you need to make sure you allowed travel between the domes.

What I normally do for my university is create a dome without specialty jobs (build a medical facility though.) Then I set the dome to thumbs down every specialty so they move out of the dome when they graduate.

You can also go a step further and put your child homes and school in that dome. Then thumbs down children in other domes that push them there. That way when they become adults they go straight into the academy.

Weird. I had to set the university to maximum priority to start seeing colonists to attend.
Yup, i put the school (school spire) in the same dome as the university and the nursery, but i dont undertand that while the nursery and the school spire always have colonists inside, the univeristy was completely empty for a while until i raised the priority.

EDIT: I noticed that you MUST place an university in each dome if you want your colonists to be trained. I have over 10 scientist vacant workplaces, and the university placed in the upper dome tells me that i only need 1. Dont have a clue whats going on. This need of making all frikkin domes selfsufficient in every way without relying in connected domes is a completely messed up mechanic. I dont understand what is the purpose of connecting two domes. Basically you have to research the biggest dome, the oval one or the wonder one to be able to place everything in a single dome.

Universities should not have different needed job counts. These are vacant specialists in all your domes. Well except underground and above ground should have separate counts.

You should not need a university in every dome. Like I stated if you bring the child to the school/university dome (because you kicked it out of the others) then kick the colonist out once it has a specially it should create nice flow. Keep in mind it can take 5-10 sols for the flow to get going good. After 20-30 sols you will have barely any unspecialized in your colony as it will start kicking out random specialties.

If you need certain specialists in a hurry then you can change the university to train specific jobs, but that is all you get.

Well, then it must be a bug, because the university cant find any scientist free working slot at all. I was wondering all this time why my scientists numbers were so low, its because not a single scientist is being trained beause the university think that there arent free scientist working slots.....

Maybe it caused by mods? im using the career ai mod and the other one about the childs. But they should work just fine without causing problems.

Well the career one is kinda irrelevant aint it? Since you can toggle specialized only. Also if you swapped the career toggle on it it could be using a script the university does not recognize. Definitely sounds mod inflicted.

If you are using Career AI, but experience problems, then install "fix emigration issues" as well.

I was already using that mod in the run i had the problem.. i deactivated it in the new run to see if it was the problem. But i still need to advance a little more in my second run to check.

No, both mods should be used in tandem. Career AI was also updated recently, maybe it could solve your problem.
