Colonists dying while moving to a different dome
Heya!
I actually have two questions with this.
So, I have one dome at the bottom of the map and one in the top.
People keep dying to go to the top one, though they also use the jumper shuttles... not sure why they're still walking nonetheless.

Either way, if I'd establish a dome half-way, would they go there to not die and then continue north?

Yes... maybe. They can only travel a certain distance before they'll run out of air, food, water... whatever. You might need more than a few domes in order for them to make it all the way across the map. I've never tested to find out exactly how far they can travel before dying.

By default there is a range limit for colonists relocating without shuttles, so they shouldn't try to walk too far. Maybe there is an issue with them not being able to get a shuttle, or you could be using a mod to remove the range limit for walking. I could see this also happening if you had ramps or obstructions and colonists were walking further and the game thought the "distance" was good because it was calculating without the obstacles. Another thing you might consider is the actual moving rules and the dome positions. Your most populous domes with more permissive housing rules being closer to the middle would also eliminate most of these cases.

There is also a tech to make shuttles fly faster, which is good if you have really long shuttle hops.

@cy-one - a screenshot of your whole map would be nice. As far as I remember there was a bug in which domes connected by passages were felt "safe" to migrate in between them even by walk, but depending on actual pathing colonists were found walking outside domes rather than a longer (but safer) way from inside them. Vanilla or mod related, surely you stumbled in a bug.

The idea of domes on their way may work, but you have to find a way to "force" them to pass inside those domes. Something like a wall made of three mini-trigon domes connected with longest passages and no ramps, so that the shorter way for them to move would be from traversing those domes. Otherwise they may still walk around domes without to stop in.
