Green Planet is a must-have. Furthermore, the Space Race DLC, the Colony Design Set and the In-Dome Buildings Packs are also good additions, but only if they're on sale. Or simply get the season pass. Stay away from Below&Beyond, though, it's far too glitchy.

I'll give a list of what I like / have and a link for an upgrade package that includes a couple I mention along with an extra music dlc I could care less about. Packages usually discount a little extra savings though. Usually, you can find these package deals by clicking on the DLC you're interested in and then look for the caption "Packages that include this game." That way you'll pick up some more and save a little more. So... my list

Surviving Mars:
Deluxe Upgrade Pack
Stellaris Dome Set
Colony Design Set
Green Planet
Project Laika
Space Race
In-Dome Buildings Pack

This package includes the dlc; Space Race, Colony Design Set, and Marsvision Song content

https://store.steampowered.com/sub/312092/

Some more examples;

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/23696/Surviving_Mars_Starter_Bundle/

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/11068/Surviving_Mars_Green_Planet_Plus/

So, sometimes these packages include the game and / or dlc you already have. The price doesn't reflect that by deducting it from the cost. But, if you add it to your cart... continue shopping until you've added all the DLC or packages you want to your cart and then go to checkout, it should reduce the cost of one's you already own. NOT all games / publishers do this in Steam cart however. So, just be sure to pay attention to that. It's not really a 'discount' if you end up paying for content more than once obviously. Happy gaming.

Oh... the radio stations are totally users choice... just adds various music stations to listen to while in-game.

Basically everything but B&B, with Radio Stations being a take or leave.

Yeah... big NO on the B an B one. But, I also don't suggest that one that adds trains... forget which it is... it's mechanics are poorly implemented and NOT as useful as they could be by a long shot... according to what I've read.

Edit: However, with a little digging into this forum, a person 'could' make them 'ok' for use. At least, it doesn't just introduce a ton of problems like the B n B one does... not as much so anyway.

That was the author himself. Paradox removed his access to the code, because they are far too greedy to extend his contract. Which means that he's now unable to create any patches, and instead, those are released as mods.

While not as effective as true patches, the mods still managed to fix most of bugs. What they are unable to change, are the fundamental issues of the train system. It only works on flat ground.

The bus rover mod helps. You basically set two stations and the bus will run in between. Not as fast as train but OK

Kind of pointless given how fast the shuttles are, not to mention that they are completely automated.

This thread was very helpful for someone just starting out, thanks! :steamthumbsup:

I bought the game on a sale a few years ago, and I have the exact same DLCs as in the list above, posted by Mardoin69 (plus Marsvision), so I feel I've just won the lottery :steamhappy:

Only played the tutorial, but like it so far :letsgo:

@Bjorn
You may want to dig through the workshop mods. There's some with 'fix' in their title you maybe want. Then there's some by Choggi that help for building things... the 'show' the coverage areas when going to place things... like 'construction shows grid lines' for example. Most these I believe are in Choggi's QoL collection. Then there's some by SkiRich that improve upon some of the games AI... like 'Career Ai' for example. Then there's some that add some more 'automation' features for a few things... I also consider QoL mods. BUT... can't stress this enough... always go down into the description and even into the more recent comments section to see if they been updated to work with current game version. There's a bunch that are not and they'll just likely not work or worse--cause bug issues.

Yes, thank you guys. I'll have a look in the workshop, @Mardoin69.

Loved sandboxes since I was a kid! :lunar2019smilingpig: Hmm... Wonder if there is a 'sandbox simulator'? :lunar2019grinningpig:
