Problems building an elevator

I discovered a Lava Tunnel leading downwards and cbhose option 1 (i.e. waiting for an elevator to be built instead of sending the rover on a one way mission down there).

Some time afterwards I had researched Elevators and wanted to build one.

The Elevator blueprint gets placed ... the building site is in range of a drone hub and an RC commander.
I even placed 3 universal storages and filled them with the resources needed to build the elevator.
Nevertheless nothign happens.

When I click on a drone and manually order it to build the elevator it goes to one of the universal storages, takes a metal block (seemingly wanting to bring it to the building site) and then puts it down again and reverts to an idle state.

It definitely doesn't seem like the path to the elevator is blocked or something like that.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes, it's a problem that I've heard of a couple of times.
1. Try to rotate it.
2. If that doesn't work, build it in a different place.

Rotating is not possible.
As soon as I place it over the open lava tunnel, it will align itself again into the same direction.

I even tried to flatten and clear a certain amount of terrain around it, so it isn't located so close to a craters rim anymore. Didn't help.

Another lava tunnel may be a solution, but the next one is a long way afar, so it will take some time till I am able to reach it with a chain of drone hubs

This damn DLC is simply crawling with bugs, so before you lose any sleep over this issue, just refund it. Otherwise, you might try the following:
1. Build it manually, meaning, disable the construction project, use a drone to pick up the needed material, then click on the site to have it deliver that there. Rinse and repeat...
2. Install the ECM mod, and experiment a bit. Reveal the underground map to see if the entrance is blocked with rubble, or just use the quick-build function.

Not sure what the cause was. I ran into this bug myself.

It would deliver only a partial amount of materials. I was able to force the metals and machine parts manually with drones, however cement would not deliver at all.

I had dropped my rover in first. The area below looked clear, however was some cave decoration stuff on the edges. I think that is not the issue though because an area has to be cleared before accepting resources.

I was playing Blue Sun which gives a building cost discount. I also noticed one of the times I tried rebuilding the discount was not applied. So my bet is the issue is something in the cost scripting.

Ended up going to the workshop and getting the ECM.

Chose the quick build option.

I have the same problem but not on every map. I think some maps have a bug on building the underground elevator.

I have found that if you are playing Blue Sun the cost is bugged due to the inherent discount Blue Sun has. I have not encountered this bug playing any other sponsor.

So that makes two broken sponsors in Below and Beyond
- Blue Sun with the bugged buildings.
- Japan because flying drones get stuck in the underground terrain.

Found another entrance. And this one looks norman. Drones works fine.

Suggestion: maybe we can't use some entrances because they are blocked by rocks (as i remember there was an message about collapse). And this rocks must be removed FROM underground before drones can finish the work.

Does anyone checked it?

So the bug is probably caused by the path being clear on the surface but rubble covering it underground. I Ran into a similar bug where i made it underground but couldn't clear the rubble off the damn spot for placing the elevator.

May be... or... may be it's not a bug... I mean, maybe, if we go to underground through another entrance, and clear the rocks from underground - drones can finish the work. May be it's just a feature of the game. Such building situations looks quite realistic. I mean - it looks logical and such mechanics can make a game more... interesting.

(may be bug just with message... i got message about rocks collapse on underground lvl... i dont remember when it was... But i dont get message about it when i tried to build elevator...).

But need to check it. Unfortunately it can take a long time. Entrances a far away from each other. And it even more distances in underground (because of tangled tunnel). And a big and long infrastractures is needed to find and check all this.

So... i'm ask - may be someone else already did it...

At first i thought this was a joke and you werent serious... oh well.

OR maybe it is just one of the HUNDRED bugs you can find in the B&B dlc. And it has been reported hundred of times already. Sometimes you cant build the elevator entrance, no matter what you do. And it has nothing to do with the entrance being cleared in the underground or not.

But at this point im completely amazed that people waste time trying to explore the underground. New players (im amazed this game still atracts new players) will soon realize that its a total waste of time and its too tiresome and with so many dumb mechanics that its better to play without even looking at it.

I am having the same problem. Blueprint is there but one of the required elements never gets fulfilled.

It's a bug, plain and simple. Try a different entrance, or install the ECM mod and use the quick-build option.

It's called "cheat", but sometimes, using them to deal with bugs is indispensable.

The problem exists at the moment. Nothing helped me. I don't want to use cheats because of achivements
