Magnetic Field Generator Research Yields.
Ok, so this is something I haven't looked into properly before so perhaps its a new bug, perhaps its an old bug, perhaps its something that was intended, but I wanted some other thoughts.

The magnetic field generator, its main purpose is to reduce the loss of atmosphere but it has a secondary yield of research, the research it generates states that it 'Generates research proportionally to the current atmosphere', but the thing is it doesn't.....
It generates research proportionally to overall terraforming %, if vegetation goes up by 10 percent it will generate 25 research points, get it to 100% then you hit 250 (assuming all other stats are still at zero). Same for temperature and water, they all seem to contribute to the amount of research, if you have 0% atmosphere and maxed the other stats then you get 750 research. Obviously these numbers never really appear in game, usually you will be working on the different terraforming stuff at the same time, I only really noticed it when I saw how low the research yield was on the 'Breath of fresh air' challenge map because I neglected any water or vegetation on that map and rushed to 100% atmosphere and saw it was pretty low compared to other yields I've seen.

Now if you dig into the files there are clearly stuff they didn't finish or changed such as unused voice clips, or even with the Green planet DLC where the is a message popup for when your temperate dips below 25% and the water freezes again, since temperature cannot drop in game this message was clearly coded for a more beta version where temperature could drop just like atmosphere.

I am not sure where the specific code for the magnetic field generator is but it wouldn't surprise me if they added it late on into development and used the wrong variable and got it working off overall terraforming percentages rather than just atmosphere. Either way the description seems wrong to me or the behaviour seems wrong. Any thoughts?
