Wildfire
am i missing something for the wildfire event...it states i need to research the original strain but i dont have any options to research anything. In the mean time its hit epidemic levels and threatening extinction if i dont do something.

Dont worry, you're not missing anything. I wont spoil anything, just keep waiting until the next event fires and a special breakthrough reseach becomes available.

Then you'll keep waiting and waiting and waiting since the cure takes FOREVER

My first colony has this issue,... and that breakthrough research is an arduous task for a small colony. The mystery is pretty much on autopilot.

Yea and then all the time spend making the cure after you research it. Which you need a lot of and takes a long time to make. That whole mystery was just go on fastest speed and come back 5 hours later and was almost done

ahh k thanks not 5 minutes after i typed the post i moved to the next stage. Luckily im doing 2.5k research a sol for the next part

Yeah, that sounds about right. I managed to cheese the required reserach time down a bit, but it's still rediculous. And then coming up with the required personell to tend to the cure is taking up enough resources - you'd think they'd send more funding instead of asking for the handout.

The disease is bad enough to begin with - after a while colonists start dropping left and right because of the daily health knock-off so you end up with a colony brimming with children and people that don't work or lack any profession.

Just sell a lot of rare back to earth and then use the money for extra research. I had research at 42k and it took 3 sols for the 90k needed.

If you dont have the wonders then I suggest getting those asap.

I didn't put any people on mars until I was about 3/4 of the way through the tech tree and the game was a breeze.

It's not the research that's a problem. It's the next step which you can't speed up and requires a ton of farms dedicated to the cure since you need to send back a bunch of the cure to earth. It takes 5 days a harvest and it only makes like 15 a harvest with 100% farm soil. So you need, at minimum, 4 farms at 100% soil making it per rocket.

If you have a small colony that can take awhile since I only had one mega dome with 220 people in it but only two farms. I needed more infirmary's to keep people health so couldn't make more farms. Not that there was a rush really, it just was just speed 3 to victory

How were you able to make such a massive amount of money without any people though since you need them to mine rare minerals to make money

How do you people maximize Research so much? I baraly managed 1700K/Sol thanks to dumping 8 additional RC Explorers on the map!

The biggest post cure problem I'm having with the wildfire mystery is the refugees and the loads of untrained poeple because dome filters and colonists don't have any middle ground to work with when it comes to only wanting a certain number of any one in a given filter category - so my colonists are constantly shuffling themselves around and landing in the wrong places. I end up with people not working the right jobs.

I just let them die in space ^_^ I didn't need them nor want them. You also aren't required to get them

LOL. This will be considered next time around. since they suffer -40 workplace performance anywhere they go.

I guess a lot of the difficulty depends on how early you trigger the event. Though the challange is considered one of the harder ones, I really dont see how you could fail if you put 1 farm and 1 medpost in every dome.

This is why I say research is the problem:

My first dome was a mega dome. I didn't bother with the starter and medium dome.

I had 2 mega domes and the final 'wonder dome' with about 6 total farms. I was able to make the needed curetatoes with a stockpile of about 4500 food to rely on while the farms made the curetatoes.

I made massive money by waiting for significant research which gave me wonders. The wonder, can't think of it's name, but it autodigs and gives you 50 metal and 20 rare per day without people was built after my first dome was built. I used that to farm up a lot of money (along with my dome) before I created my 2nd dome and finally my third "wonder dome".

It depends on how fast you want to go... in order to speed up research for a limited time you'll need to save up your money from rares and use outsource research.

I'm not attempting any min-max solution and my daily research after I got all the techs and the appropriate wonders built that give boost to research was about 3k research per day. This would vary depending on how many of my 'citizens' were trained as scientists and in the labs.

I then used money to buy outsourced research.

Playing this way takes a lot of time, even on fastest speed. I'd often just make sure all needs were good to go and then go watch tv for a few hours.
