So how to produced water?
ok so i am having a bit of a hard time here.. first i canot find suitable place where water, concrete or metal are near to each other (even in like 4 squares) but thats fine as i was able to find a couple of places with meta, concrete and rare metal deposits near each other.

but the issue i have is that i cannot find water deposit anywhere near, so how am i suppose to get water? i tried the water producing building which you can get from earth (forgot its name), it produced really low water which means i cannot make much fuel to send my rocket back to earth..

so how do you solve the water issue? is water required for the domes as well?? and to produce fuel..

You can send more rockets from earth with more water production prefabs before you send the original one back.

You have two ways of getting water.

1. Water Extractors, drills that need a water deposit on the surface.
2. Moisture Evaporators (You bring prefabs of these along with you on rockets till you can research them)

Deposit based extractors produce a lot more, but the evaporators don't need a deposit. Just don't place them so they overlap, or they will produce less.

I guess you will have to wait for tech to upgrade the moisture water generator

the problem is that the water deposits are way to far away, as a result of which i cannot currently use them. i dont have the drones and the capacity.

i guess having the moist evaporators will be the way to go here.. the problem i face with them is that what ever they are producing is going into fuel and i dont know if water is required to run domes or just oxygen (i am in early stages of game and dont have domes)

Luck of the draw.

And yes - Domes need water and so do fuel plants.

i guess i should keep restarting till i find a better lcoation .. cries

OP needs to pack more (expensive) probes and read sector desctiptions to see if they "probably" have water. You're not obliged to start on revealed sector - and probes can reveal more.
any drawbacks to placing a moisture extractor near concrete extractor (produces dust) ?

Use the hydroengineer commander profile. Then you will be guaranteed to get a water deposit.

Use the mod "Drone Custom Work Area"; it lets you set your drone coverage so one hub can cover the entire map.

Makes exploiting distant resources easy.

Yes, any building within range of anything that produces dust (any sort of extractor), will have an increased in maintenance costs. (The maintenance bar moves faster). Selecting the extractor building shows the range of the dust being generated.

Early game I'd suggest not building anything else within range of extractors if you can (other than waste rock storage, as these don't need maintenance), as it increases your costs, and early game resources tend to be a little scarce!

One moisture vaporator will run a fuel refinery and provide all the fuel you need to move ships around.

Two more moisture vaporators will run a medium dome, you'll need extra though for crops, and you'd want a few more on top of that creating a reserve for dust storms. There's no rush to build a dome though, you can take your time and build up your infrastructure to eventually reach those distant water deposits before getting into that.

If it is placed within the work area of the concrete extractor then it gets dust accumilation and needs maintenance more often.

If I have more than one rocket available at the start, I usually load up a 2nd rocket with an extra moisture vaporator and fuel refinery, (and whatever else I think I might need), as soon as I start the game. i.e. before I've even landed my first ship.

So by the time I've set up my initial fuel refueling area, the 2nd rocket has arrived, and I can double the fuel production. For power I either bring along a 2nd sterling generator, or start building solar panels.

This is usually more than enough to cover all your early game fuel needs, at least until your running 1 rocket to Auto trade rare metals, and another one for planetery missions.

Tip 1: If you leave sterling gens closed, they do not need maintenance.
Tip 2: If using early solar, you can avoid building batteries (which then need maintenance) by just switching vaporator and fuel refinery night shifts to off, so they only run when the sun is up).
