recharge powerless drone

A lil drone boi ran out of power, how can I charge him back up? Hes a short distance from my base.

Send a rover.

You can send another Drone to recharge it. Select a functional Drone and right-click on the discharged one.

If I may add a different question, do drones recharge themselves automatically (assuming they're able), or must you manually tell each to go back to a charging station before each runs out?

I've been doing this because I'm a newbie and too afraid to let them all run out of power; haven't noticed them returning to charge on their own (yet). Thanks-

Yes provided they have not been sent miles away then they will return and recharge and then carry on with their task

Whenever its battery drops under the minimum threshold the Drone drops whatever it's doing and goes to the nearest recharge station, drone hub, rc Rover or Rocket. In most cases the Drones fully deplete their battery when they're send outside their commander's range.
