Difference between the packages?
Can anyone tell me what the differences between the three sale packages are? I'm not sure if I'm just blind or if there's just no info on the store page but I'm not sure I understand what I would be volunteering an extra $15 for.

This page was helpful to me:

Pre-orders get the digital soundtrack.
The deluxe edition gets you new skins, more music, artwork, etc.
First colony gets you everything deluxe does + a season pass.

Base edition is the game. Deluxe edition is the game and a bunch of unimportant visual stuff along with the artsy stuff normally included in deluxe editions. And the Colony Edition is just the Deluxe with the first 4 planned DLC included.

Paying for DLC that has yet to be announced for a game that isn't out yet that we have no idea if is any good past the first few hours is a stupidly terrible idea. Anyone who does that deserves to be screwed over. Seriously, don't do it.

Pre-orders are in general a terrible idea. It only gives the publishers money for nothing and encourages them to release games unfinished because people buy them anyway. Paradox don't need your money to finish the game - it's already as finished as it will ever be and nothing will change that at this point in time. Digital copies don't run out, ever. There is absolutely no excuse for pre-ordering a game unless we're talking a limited print physical edition, which most publishers, Paradox included, don't even do anymore. #WeDoNotPreorder

Thanks for the responses guys. I haven't been on steam all week so I didn't realize I had any! I definitely don't intend to preorder, and I'm not even sure i intend to order at al, but it looked interesting so I'm gonna keep an eye on it. I appreciate the responses, though thanks!

Standard Edition = Base game + Stellaris Dome
Delux Edition = Base game + Stellaris Dome + Deluxe Upgrade Pack
First Colony Edition = Base game + Stellaris Dome + Deluxe Upgrade Pack + Season Pack

Taking you for every cent they can

The Stellaris dome set is a thematic set of visual skins for the Martian domes with a futuristic design and star-shaped elements. It is available for the following domes:
- Basic Dome: A small dome, suitable for the early days of the colony.
- Medium Dome: A medium-sized dome design.
- Oval Dome: An elongated dome design, which has space for two Spires.
- Mega Dome: The most advanced and spacious dome design.

The Deluxe Upgrade Pack of Surviving Mars provides ambitious colonists with a variety of new ways to customize their new homes and domes. New content includes:

• The “Metropolis” Building Set: Add some chrome to your dome with a shiny new visual upgrade to your infrastructure, providing you with chromatic skins for Oxygen Tanks, Water Towers, Fuel Refineries, and more.
• Radio Station: An additional in-game radio station, with new music and chatter, comes exclusively with the Deluxe Upgrade Pack.
• New Housing Styles: Three alternative skins for residential housing structures allow you to add different flair and design to your colonies.

The Season Pass, will add two full expansions and two content packs to Surviving Mars in the months following launch.

Hmmmm... With the season pass this is a bit expensive, but if it will include 2 exps may be convenient.

Yea because it says 2 full expansions (as well as 2 content dlc) I will probably get the colony edition if I pre order. If was just 4 dlc then I would pass.
